Default Help with BPL Team Names

OK its not an official thread but we could/should give our 10 cents in naming the remaining teams.

Chittagong has been named as 'Chittagong Tigers'
Rajshahi has been named as 'Rajshahi Warriors'

I suggest the following for the remaining teams

Dhaka - Dhaka TERRORS
Khula - Khula CYCLONES
Barisal - Barisal BHOOTS
Sylhet - Sylhet TEA GARDENERS

any takers?

Chittagong tigers is not an official name . The owner of SQ group told in the auction that that they had a team named Chittagong Tigers in the PCL . They might consider that name if they dont find a good one

But Tigers should have gone to Khulna ... As they harbour the most of it ..

Chittagong and Rajshahi are already set. I disagree with your other suggestions except for maybe Sylhet. But I prefer Sylhet Tea Leaves, it sounds more professional than Tea Gardners.

My suggestion for Dhaka & Barisal.

Dhaka Dynamites (Don't remember who came up with this name but it goes along well with Dhaka.)
Barisal Bashers (That sounds cool isn't it?) :p

On a SERIOUS note, I propose a theme based name for the team.
My theme : River.

Dhaka Turag ( Buriganga sounds too big and buri or ganga separately doesnt sound good)
Chittagong Karna ( Short for Karnaphuli River)
Sylhet Surma
Rajshahi Padma
Barisal Kirtan ( Kirtankhola River)
Khulna Rupsha

It has very unique Bangladeshi touch which highlights our culture and heritage and offer something new and informative. Also the theme River has significance on many levels, geo-political, economical, social and overall history and origin of this delta we call Bangladesh.

Though there are nothing wrong with Brave, Blitz, Sultans, Saints, Warrior, Tiger etc, these are all very common and are mostly English names that has been tried and used in many different parts of the world.

Let us have something of ours.

All these Tigers. Warriors, Gladiators are already names of other foreign teams. We are basically stealing them and making it unique by putting the town names infront of it. No creativity - pathetic!

Why is Bangladesh so foreign-centric? Nijeder kono ohonkar gorbo nai? Why not ethnic names? And since when does Chittagong have Tigers? India does it because they have too many languages.

Where is Bangladesh's identity? Rest In Peace Bangla.
I am miffed!

I like the idea of the rivers. I would have liked to see one team called The Brahmaputras - The Sons of Gods!

There we go-
Foreign-centrism.
Since when has Bangladesh even have a concept of Gladiator - A Roman concept totally? Even the Greeks could not come to central India.
And Warriors - could it not easily have been Jodhdha? Songrami?
We as a culture - heritage have a long histry - longer than all other civilizations -
a heritage that is quickly being lost.
If Cricket - the number one attention getter cannot elevate this heritage - may I ask what will?

Only the gadha BCB (I presume they are responsible for the explosively creative Ctg Tigers) only had half an ounce of imagination as you....

Since teams will not most likely be named based on deshi themes I would like

Dhaka Dragons/dynamites
Chittagong Cyclones/pythons
Rajshahi Rhinos/Rebels/Rabbits
Khulna Cats/Tigers/Crocs
Sylhet Saints/
Barishal Bohemians

at least something close to the divisions' heritage.

I dont understand why we need to add those creatures and races alongside. does it give a fair complexion of the passion and culture of the region. as it is franchise based so i suggest to give whatever names using their imagination but regions name should be in bracket for reckoning.
