Pathetic performances and painfull memory
Couldn't find any word to describe BD's pathetic performances. Being team in England means i had the opportunity to see the game live and cheer them up but unfortunately, I have to say, our team gone backward rather than came forward over the past couple of years. I took two of my srilankan mate with me and feel regret now, not for me but for my mate to take them at Lord's cause they just wasted their hard earn money for nothing.
I have identify few reasons why they have showed this Mediocre performances.....
1. They never had experience on playing English condition. (although U19 visited but it's in different level when u playing against national team)
2. No matter how much talent they have got still they (Shahadat and Rahim) did not had much experiences in international level. So they shudn't be playing (i know every body performed badly).
3. Remember when Tendulkar selected for national team and picked for W.Indies, they restricted him not to play against W.Indies cause in case he lost confidence by facing their fearsome fast bowlers and got out cheaply. I think BD management put extra pressure by giving debut those two against world 2nd best team.
4. We wud have needed specialist bowling and batting coach for the team who wud be able to give special advice and tips.
5. Team shud be come to england at least 2 months before and played minimum 7/8 practice matches against county team.
6. English condition is totally different then rest of the world. We know Australia got hard and bouncy wicket but still england pitch is different, bowl is always swing on both side and sometimes unpredictable bounce too. So, i just feel our players did not had much ideas about the condition.
I am sure there could be other things involved for that medeocre performances but i believe those mention above ar the few important one.

To win against teams likw England, it will take us 5-10 years of hard work and dedication and off course we have to make sure never to produce captains like Habibul Bashar.

absolutely. it's gonna takes at least 8-10 years before we even think about to win a test against england. But it always nice to be hopeful, even though most of the time it beccomes a painfull!

Alhough your points are valid and pretty much everyone will agree with them, especially we should have come earlier and played more warm ups, I can't agree that we have gone backwards over the last 2 years. We haven't.
It's just the experience isn't evenly spread out over all playing conditions esp the English conditions. I don't think this team would lose like this to anyone, including this English team, anywhere else in the world, including in Australia.
We just had the perfect storm of poor prep, overconfidence from the Zimbabwe win, lack of any real experience in england, constant shuffling of the team, and big stage fright - it all came together at the worst possible location - Lords. Add to that our players lack of urgency - somehow it doesn't seem to matter what the game situation is or how much they are being humiliated, you will always find them grinning from ear to ear, just happy to be at the party. Except for one or two, like Pilot, who has a whole different, professional, approach to his cricket.

Too much hype about the Lords, is the reason behind downfall of our boys.
That's what I feel.

Thanks for your valuable point (rafiq). I have said that they gone backward in a sense that they got ride of experience player so quickly. You have made this pont by identifying "constant shuffling of the team" . You always need mixture of youth and experience. But it seems our management always favour the younger one. If we wud have few more experience players in the team, regardless of the inexperience of the condition i believe team wud be do much better and younger players wud perfomed better.

I friend of mine lives in darwin, and the night before the test match there he saw bd players out enjoying the night life up there ( in the Aus vs Bd serise).
I would question their comitment and their effort put towards training. No matter how good you are you still need to train, the bd cricket team has allways been a bit free and able to do whatever they want on tour, it isn't a holiday, they are paid on what they do and more importantly they are playing for their country and their flag. Guess amatures should play in the amature leagues.
