I get what you meant

But we need to play FC matches more regularly and as a result the local player themselves will get better and better with time which will eventually raise the bar. We are in this mess because of the irregularity of the FC tournaments.

With the BCL in place, I think things can only get better for numerous reaons.

It so sad that all these so called performers scoring 50
Or 100 can't even score when it matters the most

Gotta agree that the NCL doesn't seem to have enough quality and seems to be outdated. BCL looks like a much better competition as it premiers the best players in the country and it most importantly gives better preparation for Test cricket compared to the NCL. We have to face it, there just aren't enough quality players in our country to have eight teams and 120 players. On top of that we don't have that many good players in each division to be competitive.

At the same time, we don't want to completely ignore the bottom 60 players. So what I propose is that have the top 60 play against each other and the bottom 60 play each other for each season. Once the season is over, and if some of the bottom 60 players perform then they should be considered for the top tier the next season. This is of course an idea but we need to do something about the competitiveness of our FC cricket because it's just not preparing our players enough for the demands of Test cricket.

Also each team should be required to play one foreign pacer per team. It would help our boys a lot if they play a Pakistani, Lankan or even an Afghan pacer.

Despite having so many big scores in his career, including the 313*, Rokibul's FC average is only 32.55. Just shows how inconsistent he has been.

Congrats to Sohan on his maiden FC ton. If he can continue to improve his batting he'll be an eligible contender to replace Mushy with the gloves. He's tall and has shown in the BPL that he has quick reflexes behind the stumps. It's just his batting that needs improving.

if you take out his poor test matches then i think his FC average is 35+. but he's doing what all the others are doing, batting at 4,5,6 rather than #3 for his NCL team and the only real chance in the near future for a test match batting spot is the #3 spot for those who are middle order batsmen.

quality still isn't great but at least we are getting hundreds more often, domestic batting averages have improved, a lot more batsmen average 35 or 35+ than there was 5-10 years ago.

but yes the quality still remains an issue, the BCB should be asking, how can someone who was averaging about 45 in FC cricket when he got his test call-up, look so poor and ill prepared for that level of cricket. of course i'm talking about anamul, 6 innings and a test average of 10.66, not only is the average low but he didn't look anywhere near ready for test cricket.

After Raqibul's 313* he had a tough stretch in FC cricket but in the last 2 seasons, he's hit 3 centuries and we also saw his good form in the DPL. So it looks as though he's improved on his inconsistency. If Marshall fails this Test match, he'll open the door for the likes of Naeem and Raqibul for the WI Tests

if marshall fails then it will be interesting to see who the selectors pick for the #3 spot, we don't have any one pushing for that spot in domestics and they don't seem to want to put naeem there (otherwise he should have been picked ahead of marshall in the first place). it makes selection for that spot wide open, do they give the likes of junaid or jahurul some more chances, or do they go with someone on talent because that would be the only option.

sabbir seems to have figured out that there is a spot open at #3, whether he can pull it off and score the runs needed to push for selection is another thing.

i am eager to follow tasamul's progress in this tournament, only 22, 3 centuries and 6 half centuries in 19 matches, average of 33, could develop into a national team contender in the next few years.

And that's where lies the problem. Plenty of our players have more than decent records in the NCL but then fail miserably in Tests. We need a competitive FC tournament in order to prepare our players. DPL and BPL has helped our players in the shorter form now we need a good, competitive FC tournament.

BCL is a step in the right direction, though imo there aren't that many players with more decent records, to me a more than decent record would be averaging 40+, i don't think there is anyone currently averaging 45+ and to me that is a concern (including test stats, i realise some players got chances young and weren't ready but it all counts and we can't simply exclude test results to say so and so has a great domestic record because unless they're a performing national team player that sort of argument is a bit pointless).

naeem refuses to budge as his team falls, going along at a stike rate in the 20s currently.

more FC cricket is needed in BD, the quality is partly because the players don't play the format enough.

naeem needs to hit out here, at 7/175, still trailing by 441 runs they need to make as many as they can in this innings so they can try and pull the match out for a draw.

That's true. Averaging in the 40s is rare amongst our players. So can't only blame BCB for organizing the NCL, if the quality was so poor then we'd see higher averages from our batsmen which isn't the case but ya also we just don't play enough FC matches and with the quality of these matches it's no wonder we still have a poor record in Tests

I'm surprised Elias Sunny can't even get a game. He was playing for the national team not too long ago.
