Default Comedy ...

From Dailystar
Quote:
It was the day's fifth over when Tendulkar, on 171 after resuming on 159, played Tapash Baisya to square-leg and crossed for a single. Seeing Mohammad Ashraful running slowly from deep mid-wicket, he started for a second run but understood that he had misjudged the situation.

Tendulkar was halfway through the crease when Ashraful's throw reached wicketkeeper Khaled Mashud but the experienced pair of hands ensured a comedy of errors. He failed to gather the ball properly and when he broke all the stumps at his third attempt, Tendulkar, wearing a wry smile on his face, was home.

Another one ....

I was in Rosebowl to watch Bangladesh-WI game of the ICC champions trophy 2004. One of the WI batsman played the the balll on the on side and the fielder at square leg did a great job to save two runs but Pilot missed his return (return was not great but very much catchable) and there was no back up (unfortunately) .... eventually WI pair took 3 more runs from that shot.... All people are laughing at us ...... Its liike the good fielding costs us 1 more run....

shame shame but we also need to understand the players were probably more frustrated than anyother time after letting Tendulkar play with good number of easy chances. It would have been a very different game (at least India would have to bat 2nd innings) if Tendulkar was gone at one of the 3 catches and if the 10th wicket record partnership could be prevented. It is painful to see Zahir khan scoring 75, i think BD fielding was total in disarray and Habibul had not leadership to keep the team alive.

First dropped catch of Sachin cost BD 21 runs.

Second dropped catch of Sachin cost BD 200 runs.

Third dropped catch of Saurav cost BD 57 runs.

You do the maths.

Zahir wouldn't have a partner to score 75. Cost about 70 runs.

21+200+70+57=348.

526-348=178

We could have a first innings lead.

Well in that case the game would have been over in 2 and a half days. So all these missed catches were good.

I think following these BD games is making me more Pagol.

Pilot has never impressed me as a keeper, he forever fumbles. Seeing him in person just further proved my point. Not to mention the WC game against Kenya. I used to think he was the best, most dependably, hardest to replace player in the team but now he's just a middle order batsman. Hannan can almost keep as well as him.

Fielding lapses- every run matters, every run-out matters, every catches matters. We need to improve our ground fielding and catching!!! I would applaud the bowlers- they did an excellent job- just didn't have the support from the fielders!
