His batting average in one day is even worse than his batting average in test.
Test: 19.60
ODI : 18.70
Some more test stats:
Adam Gilchrist (Aus) : 51.72
Marcus Trescothick (ENG) : 42.81
Dinesh Karthik (IND) : 17.20 (played only 4 match, has a first class avg of 37.56!!)
Brendon McCullum (NZ) : 38.06
Kamran Akmal (PAK) : 18.09 (played only 7 match, has a first class avg of 30.28!!)
Mark Boucher (SA) : 30.91
Kumar Sangakkara (SL) : 49.27
Carlton Baugh (WI) : 19.60 (played only five match so far, has a first class avg of 40.72!!)
Tatenda Taibu (ZIM) : 22.96
You see the co-relation between success as a test team with batting performance of the wicket-keeper?
I see people keep mentioning him saving our butts. How does it matter, if we are not even able to win a game?
Why are we so satisfied with so little from our team/players?
Than why do we complain when they loose?

Blah,
your radical idea is nice, but we cannot deny some facts that his presence makes the youngers feel comfortable. He is the first BD player who scored 1000 runs in ODI. He is only 20 runs shy of that mark. He has 56 dismissals in tests and 78 dissmissals in ODIs. His performance in last test might have frustrated you, as it did to many of us, but still it's too early to remove him. I hope we can do that as soon as our Team gets the momentum of good performance and boys like Dhiman comes through the process of domestic cricket and A team.

Sam,
I hope he does better in next test, I really do. But If he fails, I hope selectors seriously consider looking for a replacement, the sooner the better.
We can't just sit back and watch our team perform miserably again and again, and not expect the authority to take any positive action towards improving the team.

Actuall, as I suggested in my earlier post on this thread, Pilot is a fast improving batsman today. He's just getting better. Let's compare his last 12 performances against his previous 12, both Test & ODIs:
Tests:
Score in last 12 innings: (8,51,18,2,23*,0,39,103*,2,9,61,6)= 337 runs, avg. 28.08.
Compared with the previous 12 innings: (15,0,7,51,28,29,0,0,22,19,14,44) =191 runs, average 15.92.
ODIs:
Score in last 12 innings: (40*,41,2,0,24,54,19,12,8,26,9,30*)=265 runs, avg 22.08.
Compared to previous 12 innings: (2,41,11*,16,4,13,2*,0,4*,12,14,18)=137 runs, avg 11.42.
So, as you can see, he's turning into a real asset for us. His averages just about doubled in the last year or so. This is the time to hang on to him, specially, since there is such a lack of performers with the bat at present.

Billah, your stats prove it all! If I am to ask who is the "Mr. Dependable" of Bangladesh national team, I will definitely choose Pilot at the blink of my eyes, for the stats of his last 12 matches in both tests and ODI's prove it all. So no question of dropping Pilot unless he consistantly shows miserable performance both with bat and behind the wicket.

Marcus Trescothik is not the England wicket keeper. If that is what you are trying to show with those players.

Hey Bourny3 according to his profile in cricinfo he is a wicketkeeper.
http://www.cricinfo.com/link_to_data...K_ME_01003865/
But I didn't know that he doesn't keep anymore.
According to cricinfo in the last england test match, Geraint Jones, who played eight test with an avg of 35.90, was the wicket keeper. His first class average is 41.18 .
Still very impressive.

Billa, there is a mistake in your calculation of test average.
The formula is: AVG = R / (I-NO)
You need to substract the total innings minus the number of time he was not out, thats how I understand it works, not sure though.
Which actually gives him a higher average:
33.7 in the last 12 innings.
But I think it's mis-interprets his actual ability. As his lone century was scored in the last 12 match, which gives a boost to his overall average.
It does suggest that his batting has improved recently, but I believe that it's just a matter of time that it will go back to normal; even though I hope it doesn't.
And I hope he proves me wrong.
Cheers.
Blah
