Default Dumb Decision.

Putting them to bat first was so dumb. Who cares who wins this game. We needed to give them as little batting practice as possible before the test matches. Lets not help them adapt. Come on Hannan. We need to take advantage of every little thing. Your first decision as a captain and you may have cost us a test win.

test win ? You mean a practice match win, right ? Also, I don't think BCB XI was ever in a winning position.

However, he should have batted. Unless the selectors wanted to try out the bowlers.

Default not this game.

Not a win in this game. I was just hoping that England gets as little batting practice as possible on our desi pitch.

You got your wish. Hopefully, they will do the same in the second practice match and ten realize that they needed a little more match practice.

(On a serious note - with their batting line up - they could care less)

Make no mistake, we love to win but not desperate enough to exploit our hosting previllege to deprive visitors of some batting practice.

Default Thanks Chinaman

This is still cricket guys, there are certain norms that we must maintain, like accodomating the wishes of our visitors in warm-up games. This was not a Test match. If the roles were reversed and we were playing Surrey before a Test series in England, I'm sure they would extend the same courtesy. Once again, these games are scheduled for their benefit, not ours.

For starters, someone on another thread was saying that the Pohms requested to bat first (despite not winning the toss!) and we obliged.

Default Advantages

If they requested to bat first then we should accomodate...

We are not Pakistanis. I think Rafiq proved that.

Its my experience (from losing a lot of close games in different sports) that little decisions here and there that do not seem that important at that moment can make all the difference in a closely contested game. We are not going to blow them away. If we win its going to be close; and I think we need to start utilizing all the legal advantages we can possibly get.

We have so many disadvantages as it is.

Default Fab,

actually, the ground was in pretty bad condition with a lot of water left on it and England didn't want to have to bowl and field in those conditions in case someone slipped and fell and got injured, which are terrible for any touring side.

However, they said that if the BCB XII were willing to bowl and field on the wicket, England did not have any objection to batting. We agreed and they batted.

As Bangladesh allowed them to bat first... we are THE MOST hospitable Test side in the world.

I hate to sound as a spoil sport but it didnt matter who went first batting... they got our first innings for 57 runs
But we bowled well... extremely well in my opinion... getting the 1st grade English team available for the tour out for just 253 runs was a great feat... I just hope our national team bowlers can do it in the tests
