Three victories this year that stood out to me:
WC victory against Ireland
WC victory against England
WI all out for 61
event(s) of the year:
Departure of Ian Pont and Julian Fountain
Departure of Jamie Siddons
58 all out
78 all out
Not defeating West Indies in Tests despite ability(Yeah, am i the only one to think that we should have easily won against them??)
Elias Sunny Test Debut
Nasir Century
extraordinary Zimbabwe beating us in a one off Test
Imrul Kayes had a superb run of form for the first half of 2011 only to have the exact opposite run of form in the latter half
Mashrafee still not match fit
pretty much sums up the year for me...

^^ That's what our performance was this year.
Not sure what sort of award we would want to hand out to the players !!!
Its surely good to have the Awards back in BC, but I think we picked the wrong year for the comeback.

perhaps 2010 was a good choice? because last year, besides the BanglaWash we have had Tamim's heroics vs. England...Siddique+ Rahim + Riyad + Tamim century...perhaps 2010 +2009 were amongst one of the best years in Bangladesh Cricket!

I second that.
Ian Pont - Most active, involved, caring BD cricket supporter who has been most passionately active and engaged with the BD cricket fans throughout the year! This man, coach Ian Pont gets my vote through and through! I truly admire this guy!

Can we make this award a real thing, by making a real award ceremony?? I'm ready to contribute. We may hold it outside BD or in BD. Just a thought, irrespective of the challenges that lie ahead for holding such program.
It would be a great recognition from the fan base, and sure it will have a great value for the people we reward. I would propose it to be in UAE, due to easy accessibility and arrangement. I can share a major load of arrangement. We can definitely arrange sponsors for the event as well. But might need a small/token subscription from the fans.....
What do u think? Dont say it's dumb... I see real possibility ....

That would be a great idea !! But I think it's better to arrange the award ceremony in Dhaka as more BCers will be able to get involved and participate. I can contribute too though I won't be able to participate or if it takes place during the summer then I might join. Anyways, I think it will be a great initiative and the players would love to get this recognition from fans. Mods please think about it and let us know. It would be a great advertisement for BC too !!!

I think the task is to decide the categories (see the last one from 2007) and any new cateroties from this year. Figure out who the nominees are - no more than 5 per category. Once that's all decided - one of the mods/admins can create a sub-forum with ALL the categories as separate polls (just like the last time) and open it up for voting. Rubu was 1/3 way there - you guys and take it all the way.
