Default Slowest Start by Bangladeshi batsman (Ashraful?)

Hello All,

I was looking for the slowest test innings start by a bangladeshi batsman.

I recall a match (possibly a Test or 3/4 day match) where Mohammad Ashraful scored the first run after 99(or so) balls.

I am looking for the match info but unfortunately cannot find that.

Can any one else remember the match or the tour?

thank you

This one comes to my mind but he got off the mark on the 5th or 6th ball

Are you in Lala land? A batsman may get out for a duck, but I have never heard of a batsman scoring the first run after 99 balls. And why have you woken up from your dream to target Ashraful? Is this another sour remark?

He might be right. I vaguely remember something like that as well. It could be against Zimbabwe.

@zainab

Sorry, if I had hurt a fan of Ashraful. I still can remember that match being broadcast on television, only the match detail missing from my memory. I remember telling people that, this guy scored nothing in 90+ balls and then collected some runs in style after that. In an era where Bangladeshi Test players were trying to invent T20, I was somewhat impressed by this guy, though we probably lost that match.

@cricman

thanks, searched all 55 matched but can't find it.
it's not in a 3/4days match, is it? what you think?

@firstlane
thanks for reply, its not bright memory to me too, just remember something happened like what i said before!

I remember this as well, I believe Ashraful was batting with Aminul Islam or Khaled Mashud. And the openers got us a decent start, and at the end of the day Ashraful was on 1 off 90odd deliveries.

Maybe it was this game.

Perhaps the size of the fish that got away gets bigger and bigger with each retelling.

Perhaps you are talking about this Test?

In the second innings, Ash had one point 1* after 59 balls. But he did score that 1 early on, 5th ball. Between the 5th ball and the 59th ball, Ashraful did not score a single run. It was needed. Check the score card and read the commentary.

It has to be something in that range. 0(99) would be a world record and would have got a lot of press coverage.

Yup, pretty sure this is the game I was talking about. Was a bit off thinking it was 1 off 90, where I think it was 10~ of 90 at one stage. Lowest strike rate in an innings by a Bangladeshi?[minimum 50 deliveries]
