Anyone else embarassed by Athar ali khan?

It's cringeworthy to listen to his commentary among non bangladeshis... I find it hard to believe that no one in BD has decent cricketing knowledge and can also speak English accurately and without stuttering every 5 seconds.. my word let's not even talk about his biased commentary and lack of cricketing insights and common sense . Rant over

A lot of other commentators like Ravi Shastri, Amir Sohail, Australian commentators are more biased. Sometimes he gets too excited but he is still much better than Shamim and has decent cricketing knowledge. I hope some of our current cricketers like Shakib and Tamim will become commentators after their retirement.

i think tamim can be a good commentator. shakib can probably give better insight but talking nonstop in commentary maybr difficult for him....

Athar Ali is a decent commie....his English is ok and so is his accent. I dont know if you have seen him upfront, but he is also a well dressed person as well. I think personall the OP is being quite harsh on him.

He is biased to some extent, then again you will find all commies are when their national team is playing.

He has represented Bangladesh in international cricket so he doesnt lack cricketing insight. You got it totally wrong on this point.

Even Shamim's English is OK and so is his accent, however what is cringe worthy an embaressing about him is his slap stick jokes.

And what's the point of getting your knickers in a wad and start bandying about insults about being delusional. I would hazard an opinion that your self styled comment "arguably the worst commentator in cricket history" is more reflective of delusion than anything else here.

And while accusing AK as being jingoistic, do care to look up the meaning of the word.

And I suppose you did not listen to the recent WI and Zimabwean commentators on our recent tours. Your list of "arguably the worst commentator in cricket history" will grow by leaps and bounds.

Shamim does speak good idiomatic English. It's just that people who are not first language speakers or have been brought up on centuries old (colonial legacy) grammatical constructs and idioms tend to have an issue with him. My issue with him is more to do with his being the reigning maharaja of obviousistan and his often vacuous and content free drivel.

Yes shamim engliah is better but his knowledge about cricket is dreadful. Sometimes he doesn't even recognise our players including Shakib.
