Touche. But I have a good feeling about England this time. Not overhyped like usual, a hardworking bunch, a good mix of experience and youth and a manager that speaks English. Winning the tournament is out of the question but getting to semis would be a great achievement for this squad and would lay a solid foundation for the future.

England if they qualify will get 2nd place in the group, that'll mean a match against Spain in the QF, we all know what the result of that match will be....
That's good enough tbf. Nice group of players coming together for the next WC
Rooney - 26
Welbeck - 21
Carroll - 23
Walcott - similar
Chamberlain - 18
Wilshere - 20/21
Cleverley - 22
Jones - 19
Smalling - 21/22
Hart
Kelly
Henderson

Well one co host is out, can England get rid of the other?
More importantly the fixtures tonight should be fun.

I don't feel bad for the Russians at all but cringe at the thought of Greece, the Rokibul Hasan Nauyon of international soccer, advancing

Not sure why England doesn't produce above average players given the branding of the EPL. Is it because the EPL is dominated by foreigners? Drogba, Torres, Fabregas, Van Persie and even the lesser known Adebayor, Yakubu, Aguero to name a few who have been successful in recent times. Not that guys like Owen, Rooney, Terry, Beckham, Ferdinand, Gerrard (to name a few in the last little while) haven't made merry in their time, but the players just don't seem to gel together when playing for England. Again, no superstars when it comes to ability, just very average talent and output.
It will of course be a miracle if they do meet Spain and beat them, but obviously my money would be on either Germany or Spain to win it all this year, with my heart hoping for the latter.

No the problem is England don't produce technically proficient players...watch continental teams in possession and then watch the English players in possession - they treat the ball like a grenade, wanting to get rid of it as soon as possible
There are a few players now coming along who have great technique, and the FA have only recently(this month) decided to change how football is played at the grass roots - no more full size pitches and full size goals with 11 vs 11. This sort of football led to athletes being valued over footballers(bigger, stronger, faster). It will take time, but the changes should start to bear fruit over the next 10-15 years.
So more players like
Rooney
Welbeck
Scholes
Oxlade Chamberlain
Wilshere
Smalling
Ferdinand
and less of the hoof the ball up the field as soon as you can type.
