Bangladesh Squad for ICC WT20 Sri Lanka

The Bangladesh Cricket Board announces the following squad for the ICC WT20 Sri Lanka 2012. Please note that before the ICC WT20 event, the same team would participate as the BCB XI in an invitational Twenty20 tournament in Trinidad commemorating Trinidad & Tobago’s 50th anniversary of independence :

Well I don't know but I think the idea is Shafiul is wicket taking player than an economical Nazmul.

biggest surprises are that nazmul is missing and that reza is selected. although it would have been tough to pick this squad since not many players have stood out for BD in t20 cricket.

WTH is Feza (that could be his name from here on) doing there? Just because he is an "All-Rounder" with a long run-up doesn't mean he is a seam-ALR. I might as well have that spot empty to save some money.

Good to see the likes of Kayes, Rokibul, Naeem not being there. Jahurul Islam is a 50/50. We should always have a backup keeper.

Easily capable of generating 40-50 runs inside his allotted 4 overs, Abul Hasan Raju is definitely T20I material for the opposition.

I think, Richard's plan is to go with all spin attack by strengthening batting line up with long tail. To me it's not a bad move, because, I don't see our pacers do anything revolutionary on Lankan pitch which is kind of dead and spinners friendly. In that case it can be the final line-up:

1. Tamim Iqbal
2. Mohammad Ashraful
3. Shakib Al Hasan (Based on past series, 4 overs)
4. Mushfiqur Rahim
5. Mahmud Ullah (2 overs)
6. Nasir Hossain
7. Ziaur Rahman(1 overs)
8. Farhad Reza(2 overs if Mash gets 3; If Mash can complete his spell then 1 )
9. Masrafe Bin Mortaza(3 overs)
10. Abdur Razzak (4 overs)
11. Mohammad Elias(4 overs)

8 can be replaced by Shafiul and/or 2 can be replaced by Zunaed.

Good news for the Kiwis and Pakistan. 50 runs from Abul Miya's spell , 30 runs from Mashrafee's last two overs in death . So 80 runs for the opposition in just 6 overs . They can just 'chill' and play out the remaining 13 overs .

When they come to bowl , they would have Jahurul ' Gayle ' Islam to give good catching practice for the slips but not before he wasted 4-5 overs.

আকরাম খান এন্ড কোং এর মেয়াদের সবচাইতে ফালতু সিলেকশন! জহুরুল,শফিউল,ফরহাদ রেজা,আবুল হাসান এই চারটার একটা সিলেকশনও ঠিক হয়নি! বিশেষ করে আবুল আর ফরহাদ রেজার মতো প্লেয়ারকে টি২০ বিশ্বকাপের মতো টুর্নামেন্টে নেওয়ার কোন মানেই হয় না,ইউরো টুরের পর এটুকু অন্তত কোচের বুঝে যাওয়ার কথা। হতে পারে আমাদের রিসোর্সের অবস্থা খুবই খারাপ,বাট নাজমুল যে আবুলের চেয়ে খারাপ করতে পারে এটা আমি কখনোই বিশ্বাস করবো না! ফরহাদ রেজা পুরা একটা রাবিশ প্লেয়ার,কোন কাজের ই না! জহুরুলের জায়গায় মমিনুল বা আনামুলের যে কোন একজন অনায়াসে আসতে পারতো। রুবেলের চোটে শফিউল সুযোগ পেয়েছে,এখানে তেমন কিছু বলার নেই অবশ্য যদিও বিকল্প খুঁজলে নতুন মুখের কাউকে পাওয়া যেত।

Nazmul - average- 67.00@9.57.
Shafiul - average 26.20@6.55.

I'm not big fan of Shafi, but since Rubel is out, and considering his overall stats and the fact that he bowled well in the only recent chance he got, he earned it. Nazmul was awful in all the T20s he played.

Squad is alright, I would still have liked Enamul or Mominul to be in the squad instead of Reza. He looks crap. Even Shahadat looks a better 'allrounder' than Reza. But anyways, those are trivial issues, since they won't make it into the playing XI anyways.

Abul got whacked by Zimbabweans, Irish. I can't imagine what's going to happen when he bowls to McCullum & the others. :/ Farhad Reza still making it despite poor form in Zim series. I've to admit I'm not quite content with this selection. Junaid also making through. I think Kayes has more shots. He would've been a better choice. Hope the best XI will be played.

Nazmul dropped where Abul retained and Reza picked on top of that... Can it get worse?
Instead of Abul I would play Nazmul and instead of Reza I would play anyone but Reza. Doesnt matter... give Nazimuddin, Shuvagata or even Alok Kapali a shot.. All better T20 players than Reza. We dont even need a seam allrounder from Lankan conditions.

Anyways with this selection, nothing to shuffle around
