Default Players could boycott BPL - Tim May

CI reports: "Unpaid fees and broken promises could lead to a players' boycott of the Bangladesh Premier League, Tim May has warned. May, the chief executive of the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA) has revealed that "many" overseas players involved in the BPL remain unpaid and that players' patience with the organisers has worn thin."

Full report here.

Haven't the owners and BCB learned nothing from the BPL 1's payment fiasco? Isn't BCB supposed to assure that payments are made on time for BPL 2? Really frustrating!!!!!

Don't understand Why the players are still playing. I can't wait for the players to boycott actually. This hopefully will give a nice kick to BCB's behind and will learn how to sort things out

These foreign players should be lucky they laid foot on the Golden soil that is Bangladesh. Where else would they have played instead - PPL ? Here they lose a paymet or two, there, they would have lost a life or two. Let them play a few seasons over, and then perhaps might we consider some. Preposterous !! They should be lucky BCB has given them a platform to showcase their "talents" and "worth."

^^ Well, we just have to create havoc at CI centre with relentless comments about Shah's mishap.

Let not one stupid Shah be used as an excuse to hide the fundamental problem under the rug. Why not also relentless comments at the BPL franchises and the BCB to fix their sh!t?

It’s a delicate business.
The BCB also has a few tricks up their sleeve. Stage one is to swear blind that they definitely posted the money last Wednesday and the post office must have lost it. Stage two is to explain that they are having temporary cash-flow problems but they’re waiting for a rather large postal order from the chairman’s great aunt and when that arrives, everything will be rosy. Stage three is to hide money sacks in various locations around Dhaka and send Abdur (Razzak) and chums on a treasure hunt, though only one sack has any money in it.
Looks like a humor made from a Brit bitterness of jealousy. Calling Owais Shah is now a pioneer, a trailblazer, a CB fryer etc and giving full credit to BCB for defining this professonalism standard. I'm neither amused with condiment in it nor feeling bad for any three (Shah, BCB, critics) parties here. IMO Its just a very bad taali by cricinfo on a very bad gaali.

Because, Zunaid bhai, it is not a simple matter of self-righteous pure black and white. There are many shades of grey in it. At the end of the day, this is our league and we are the ones who would have to defend it. Yes, there are issues that still needs to be resolved and we hope it does by the end of it, but a premature provocation was not called for.

There are many, infact countless plenty, who wouldn't hesitate to take a jab at us even at the slightest of errors. The payment issue is not unique to BPL and happens to even the more fancier leagues around the world. Its just that we are a weak cricketing nation and it is easier to get away by bad mouthing us.

If your family member does something wrong, you may discuss that amongst your other family members and make the guilty party understand or even punish him/her so that they learn. But you dont go around your neighbourhood telling everyone how bad your sibling/children has become and you have had enough of it. If your mate gets into a fight, you dont wait on the side judging who was right or wrong to begin with, you just jump right in and rescue him first. Then you deal with him on your own.

Same way, if we Bangladeshis go around commenting on CI about the way we are being frustrated with the mismanagement, it is only going to fuel further negative comments that will fly in from all over the world and only going to make it difficult for us in the long run. It is only going to serve folks like Tim May more ammo to discard our league.

If the players werent paid in full, guys like Hodge and Azhar Mahmood would not have come back to play the 2nd season. Despite the early hiccup of BPL 2, the tournament is going stronger by the day and the immediate impact is also visible in pages like CI where they started to give running commentary ball by ball under BPL banner and not Bangladesh domestic, something they haven't done even for BBL.

As long as Bangladesh name is tagged to it, I'll defend it to the outside world no matter what.
I'll beat up the cr@p out of my brother if I have to, but I won't let anyone touch him, no matter what.

At the end of the day, this is our own and we are the ones who have to defend.

Andrew Hughes adds his two cents in The charming amateurism of the Bangladesh board.

But, then Shah confirmed the BCB story, Owais Shah owns up to payment gaffe. I hope that the payment issues no longer arise.

Exactly.

Shah being a Brit with Pak blood may have acted prematurely but we all know where BCB's competency stands. Just because Shah's payment delay was an admin mishap it does not hide all the other intentional delays, later followed by the lies, of the franchise owners. A well planned tournament management would have prevented all of these incidents and save our face to world that was waiting with knives to butcher our country's reputation.

If BCB were smart, they would first clean up their act and then heavily promote themselves using the Shah incident.
