I think selectors should have stuck by him in those rough patches. Yes he might have struggled in the Zim and Pak series but before that he was flying high with a good World Cup outing, good NZ series and decent Aussie tour with the 90 odd he scored. People keep forgetting but he was instruemental in the ODI win against England at their home ground. He was the one that helped create history

Well, Imrul got fair amount of chances. You can't deny that!
If he performs in the domestic league, only then he can replaces a non performer.

No way back for Imrul. We need batsman who can score at a fast pace and has the ability to take the attack to the opposition. With Kayedge you get only a supporting opener who will feed off Tamim's strike rate. We have to look at Shamsur first in my opinion.
We need to bring Imrul Kayes Shagor back and get him to open with his best friend Junaid Siddiqui Imroze. That will solve of our problems and I mean ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS AS A PEOPLE.
Also, bring Hannan Sarkar, Golla and Rokon back as cheerleaders.

Yeah i'm in reality like you guys. Imrul wasn't exactly rocking the house down when he played for BD. But i think people just took some of his performances for granted. He did play well at times. Its not liked he always sucked. I saw potential in him.
It should be Imrul/Anamul/Jahurul in consideration for the opening slot and #3 slot. I just think he should still be in the selectors plans. Put him in the ODI squad at least. I dont think you should pick Shamsur for the ODIs just cos he did well in t20s. And as well picking Nazza as Tamim batting partner during the Asia Cup was the worst mistake ever. It should have been Imrul. At that point i dont think there was a reasonable excuse for his exclusion during Asia Cup. After after Anamul/Jahurul/Naeem became regulars in the national team Imrul has been forgotten about.
I dont care about Imrul's NCL or BPL stats. I will only take into account his DPL performances. He is an ODI specialist.
A lot of people forget that he was 2nd highest run scorer in last years DPL with an average of 46. He scored more runs than the likes of Jahurul, Nasir, Riyad and scored way more runs than Shamsur Rahman. So yeah its reasonable to say he should still be in the plans.
I keep getting annoyed seeing this thread pop up. the simple answer is no. We are only going backwards by selecting him. Give Shmasur Anam and Aumi more chances..Unless imrul has a prolific fc season there is no way back.

We have no (real) FC or List A cricket bro. Everything is quite arbitrary. Anyway, I feel both Shagor and Imroze are better opening options than Kopa Shamsu Shubho. Even Omi or Soumya at this age has more potential to succeed and sustain success as international openers. That being said, all are nothing but band-aid solutions at this moment because who knows how Soumya will do at this level.

I don't think we should ever rule out any player. The formula is simple, score runs or take wickets, and you should immediately be in consideration. And due to the fact that our top order is our weak spot, Imrul should be in consideration. In order for Imrul to come back, he needs to score in the next DPL and in the A team tour, no excuses

Imrul will let his batting do the talking. No doubt about it.
That innings against Australia even the commentators were giving credit where it was due. He has good balance at the crease. He plays good cricketing shots when he is on song. Dw Imrul, Sohel e kotha shuno na. Tumi tomar kaj koro.
On Topic: Yes, why not. He should be in contention for his spot. It's not yet sealed by Anamul.
It's easy for a new batsman to come and make runs, until all the teams get his footage to find out his weaknesses to exploit ...and as the time passes, it only gets difficult. Given the massive footwork problem Anamul has, I don't see he can overcome it so soon. But bad luck for IK is that, these days we mostly play in dead pitches, footwork isn't so important in most of them...
But if IK can improve his footwork, by the end of next WC, he should be back in the team, if Anamul doesn't improve by then.
Next World Cup will be a good test for all our footwork challenged batsman ...I'm sure Aus-NZ won't go for spin friendly batting pitches. Rather should be playing to their strength, extra pace and Bounce. Specially after this humiliation to India.
