Default Petition for Pace Hunt programme

Can we have a petition for a PACE HUNT programme by BCB?, as seems they have forgotten to do that. Otherwise we will be continuing watch this condition of our pace department and will do only Hai hai and give excuses if we had a good pace bowlers!
Our media also seems have no responsibility on that hadly write anything that BCB should do, so somebody need to have a initiative on this.

Without corporate involvement BCB wont do anything. So if anyone here happens to be a big shot at a big corporation or knows someone the onus is on them to do sth about it. But BCB on its own? It will just sit and wait

What needs to be done is organize 6-7 events in the different divisions of the country. Back it with a lot of marcom, get Mashrafee, Shakib talking on the radio, tv. It is also worthwhile bringing in a pace bowling coach who has the eye for talent. Not Jurgensen, not Sarwar Imran. If possible get some of our national team stars to participate in these events just to attract youngsters. Identify the cream of these guys, bring them to Dhaka, train them, immerse them into domestic cricket/academy etc. No point just organizing a talent hunt in Dhaka, because the net will never be wide enough. In Sri Lanka for instance coaches go around the country looking for talent.

Now as you might imagine all the above will cost. And its not sth BCB will be willing to pocket. So thats where a Grameen Phone or Prime Bank will come in handy. Timing is not that bad because Bangladesh cricket is progressing.

Pakistan Wednesday launched a hunt for fast bowlers to overcome a shortage of quality pacemen in the country once known for its production line of quicks.
Under the “King of Speed”programme , the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will seek out bowlers who can hit 145 kph (90 mph) for a special training camp with legendary left-armer Wasim Akram.....BCB sleeping??? http://www.thedailystar.net/beta2/ne...icks-launched/

On a serious note we don't want another pace bowling hunt. Whats the point when they will not be utilised to max since 95% of our domestic cricket are ruled by spinners.

What we need is change our domestic cricket.

1- All teams must have at least 3 pacers in their line up
2- Minimum total over they should bowl per day > 50 overs.
3- BCB should then appoint scouts who can closely monitor their progress.
4- Scrap that b****y time wasting DPL/CCDM. Thanks to them they have just robbed 6 lakh to 25 lakh from our cricketers who are not blessed like Shakib and Tamim. This is their only way of living. As it is we have major problem producing cricketers in our country. Many talented cricketer had to stop playing at early age because there is no support at domestic level.

Very smart Pakistan. They already have a few talented young pacers. But i guess now they are looking for an express guy in the mold of Akhtar. This will give their attack a lot more bite. And lets not forget young Aamir could return from exile, still young.

@MohammedC. Agree with you. A more holistic approach needs to be taken. Pace hunts wont do by itself. Like you said there needs to be tweaks in rules in domestic cricket. Like inability to bring pacers inside 10 overs. Sri Lanka has implemented that in school cricket.

BCB needs to understand that in our climate/culture/food habits it's very difficult for Pacers to retain their fitness if they are not looked after by coaching staff. The coaching staff looks after only the select few that are in the squad... the current replacement crisis suggests that even though we have pacers outside the national team setup they are not physically fit enough to represent Bangladesh at the international level. Now the question is why did BCB let this happen? why not have parallel camps throughout the year for the pace reserves under a bowling coach so that skills can be sharpened and the reserves can be ready to fill in vacant slots due to injuries?

Are BCB actually hunting for pacers or are they too busy deer hunting?

Pacer hunt is never a bad thing. But our problem lies in their grooming. We continue with a coach while the pacers are deteriorating and we refuse to offer a contract to the coaches, who has shown improvement. We are crazy decision makes.

If Pakistan has pacer-shortage, what do we have?

Pacers should not eat bhat more than once per day. পেট ভরে ভাত খেলে ঘুমখানা যা আসে!

I think they are hunting pacers. That's why our pacers get that deer-in-headlight look.
