Default Who should play against UAE?

I've just read an article written in www.thedailystar.net/2006/01/18/d60118040534.htm where Chief Selector Faruk said selectors have plan to include some of the national players in A team against UAE. What do you think? Is it a better idea to include U-19s instead?

Why not? Players in National team whose position is not solidifed (due to new in the team or not in good form) should be included in A team. It can be anyone from Tushar, Alok, Rusel, Nazmul, Nafis, Aftab, Rajin, Enamul, etc

Did you mean Nafis Iqbal or Shahriar Nafees . With such a solid season with Premier leauge, I wouldn't consider shahriar nafees to play with UAE unless he is chosen as a captain.

Nafis Iqbal is the one who struggled all season and should play against UAE.

How about merging Abahani, City Club, and Kalabagan into one team to play against UAE? That way the premier league won't be interrupted and those three club players will get some match practice.

U/19's are getting two matches against UAE. After that, I don't see any reason for any of them to break away from training camp and to travel to Khulna to play for BD-A, I would rather see them stay in Bogra and to prepar as a team for the YWC.

Nafis Iqbal not Shahriar Nafees. Its the other nafis (Iqbal), who need some practice and confidence back as he is struggling.

N Iqbal,
Rajin (co-captain),
Tushar,
Ehsan,
Nazimuddin,
Rana,
Chacha (captain),
Golam Mabud (WK)
Rasel,
Enam Jr.
Shahadat

Kapali 12 man.

Call it anything you want. A team, presidential XI. You can replace Golam Mabud with Shahin Hossain.

Talentwise, Iqbal has nothing new to prove against UAE; formwise, first let him get it right in the league matches. I would prefer to see new faces like Uttam Sarkar of Kalabagan, who played well against big teams, in his place. It is a very good opportunity to try out promising prospects like Farhad Reza, Golam Rahman, Wayscurni, Mahbubul Alam Robin, Nazmul Hossain Milon, Marshal Ayub, etc, on a higher level. Only big names I would suggest to add are Abir and Rajin (may be Tushar also) as back-ups for rookies; also this way those two (or three) won't be out of match practice before the national camp starts on the fourth of February.

Rasel and Shahadat's position in the national team is not solidified. Mash and Taposh still have the upper hand. However, with the fitness situation they are facing, it would nice to keep Rasel and shahadat match ready after a long international break.

Although, I must agree with TheWatcher, that this is the best opponent to try out new players against. These would not be considered as ODIs also.

Has anybody looked at the totat stats for NL and PL for this year?

Also, does it make sense at this point to waste an A team slot on Tushar - haven't we seen what he has to offer already?

At 22 years we already seen enough of Tushar, where as we still expect Ash (at 21), Rajin (at 22), and Kapali (at 22) to blossom?

Tushar played signifiantly less than Ash, Rajin or Alok for national team. Obviously his record is also not good. But if somenone can make a case of Tushar, I would think it would be , "We haven't seen enough of Tushar yet to discard him", than anything else.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tushar Imran
Current age 22 years 41 days
Played 4 test 8 innings, 33 ODI

Mohammad Ashraful
Current age 21 years 133 days
Played 29 test 57 innings, 59 ODI

Rajin Saleh
Current age 22 years 61 days
Played 15 test 29 innings, 61 ODI

Alok Kapali
Current age 22 years 19 days
Played 16 test 32 innings, 45 ODI

Matter of fact they are playing two matches against UAE as a team named Bangladesh Academy. Here we are talking about who should play for BD-A in another two matches.
