Interesting to see different view points. I would still hold Dav Whatmore and the selectors accountable for Bashar's poor captaincy. I saw Atahar Ali Khan comenting on the poor field setting. I believe he is one of the selectors. Why don't he and his co do something about it?
Since selectors job is to choose the best talents from the country they really shouldn't intervene on coaching those talents. BCB hires a specialist to coach them. So I won't blame the selectors that much.
Dave Whatmore, worked so hard with this team. No doubt about that. Under his guidance we improve on all areas of disciplines i.e. balling, bating and fielding. Surely he coaches on captaincy as well. His job is to address the mistakes and correct them. If he sees his captain is not following his plans then he would most definitely try to correct his captain's mistakes. We see Bashar being defensive time and time again and that suggests Dav is happy with it and Bashar is carrying out the master plan.
Bashar is not acting alone. Dav Whatmore is his partner in crime.
