What's up with New Orleans? at home 4-4. On the road 8-2?
Magic is looking like a strong contender for the south east division title.
Miami's performance is puzzling. Shaq should retire now. And Chicago? I see some firing or trading in near future. This team was suppose to challege the west teams.

Kids want to leave New Jersey and partner with King James.

The land scape has changed a lot since I posted on this thread.
LA Lakers got Paul Gasol (7' 1") from Memphis. With Bynum they would pose a real threat to anybody in the western conference. And then there is Kobe.
To counter that Phoenix made a move. They got the big daddy "Shaq" while giving up Marion. I think this was a good move. With Barbosa and Diaw coming along I think they will benefit from what ever Shaq can contribute. I may be the only one who like this trade.
Boston did stumble few times. All coming along with New Orleans. Very surprising what Byron Scotts team is doing in West. The blazers aparently cooled off a little.

In three weeks three blockbuster trades for three western teams. Dallas joins LA and Phoenix. SA now must deal. One week left before the trade deadline.
Current deal: Jason Kidd, Malik Allen will come to Dallas. Dallas will give up wow so many: Devon Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, Devean George, DeSagna Diop, Maurice Ager and $3 million to New Jersey. NJ will buyout Stackhouse's contract so that he can join back to Dallas as a free agent. Dallas is also giving up two first round picks (now this is a bad move).

Dallas can send a thank you letter to Devon George later. This deal is not even fair. Dallas will give up way too many pieces for Kidd.

Davean's agent was a key figure in negating the trade, claiming that he (Davean) just started his career in Dallas, and that he needs a stable growth.
All-Star weekend, anyone ? Regardless of how much I distaste the game of basketball (follow it nonetheless, along with other major league sports in North America), I always thought NBA's all-star competitions are more serious and better overall than NHL's.

I think some of the posts in this thread is also missing.
So the west race is picking up. 9 teams within 5 games. Any team in a 3 game losing streak and they would find themselves out of the playoff picture. It is that intensed. I haven't seen anything like this before.
1st, Utah got Kyle Korver 6'6" SF from Philly. That white boy can shoot lights out. Additional scorer from the bench.
2nd, Lakers get Paul Gasol 7'0" C from Memphis dirt cheap. Jerry west helping out his old Lakers.
3rd, Phoenix matches size for size, get Diesel 7'0" C from Miami. The price tag was 40 Million for the next two years.
4th, Dallas gets Jason Kidd giving away future to New Jersey and Cash. lol, Cuban don't care for cash.
5th, Spurs slaps Lakers, and gets size inside Kurt Thomas. Well dirt cheap has new meaning now. Seattle gave him up. The GM and coach was a spurs guy last year, lol.
6th, Hornets, the surprized leader of the pack could not wait any longer. To keep up with these shoddy deals that is going on the west, they had to upgrade. In comes Bonzi Wells and Mike James from Rockets. They will give up Bobby Jackson.
Transfer deadline is nearing I think some more moves are possible. This has been crazy year for trades.

For the first time, I am following NBA really close. Maybe because of nba fantasy that I am playing but I love it. East is embarrasing. I am a big fan of Chris Paul and hope Hornets go all the way. If I had to bet on any team, it would be Lakers. Kobe, Gasol, Odam and healthy Bynum look really scary to me. Spurs are favorite as usual and Kurt Thomas deal will definitely help. Shaq looked pretty good last night but for some reason, Nash is not the same this year. Utah and Denver can be this year's Golden State. Deron Williams can play. If Denver gets Ron Artest, things will get even more interesting.

I think the Hawks can finally make the playoffs this year since we got Mike Bibby and because we are in the East.
PG- Mike Bibby
SG- Joe Johnson
SF- Josh Smith
PF- Marvin Williams
C- Al Horford
That is a pretty potent lineup.

As much as I dislike Patriots, I would start supporting Celtics if they get Sam Cassell. They i would have two players in their roster that I love (KG and Sam I am) and one I like (Allen).
Brent Barry is going back to Spurs? Why can this not be similar to Stackhouse deal?

All he did was include Phoenix's name beside San Antonio and we all know he will go to San Antonio. The man has a house and family there!! Duh!! NBA officials are all jokers.

Kobe Bryant still the best?Whatever anyone says Lakers are the best team of all-time and they will always have my support.

This is the tightest race to the playoffs I have ever seen or heard of.
In the Western conference there are 9 teams within 6 games with only 12 games left to be played. Even the 9th seed Denver would have easy home court advantage had they been in the eastern conference. Hard to believe that New Orleans are still leading the western conference. Hats of to Byron Scott. What ever he is selling our BD cricket team needs it.
East is boasting two teams with 70+% winning. This season is just heating up.
