Yeah, looks like a pretty strong team. Quite a few national players in that list. Good practice for both sides I guess.

Hi Zimfan:

I have been waiting for you. In 2005, when our team went to Zimbabwe, they got lost, they did not have any contacts even with BCB because of political turmoils, upheavals and sanctions.
Even Cricinfo could not get their crew to Zimbabwe to stream the game because of logistical problems.
How is everything now?

Hey FagunerAhun

Things in Zimbabwe are getting better now but there are still a fair few issues.

But in terms of coverage of this series it will defintly be better than in 2005 as Cricinfo have confiremed to me that there will be live coverage and Ten Sports and Supersport will be braodcasting all 5 ODI's

However in terms of communication from inside Zimbabwe in terms of the Zimbabwe camp there has been little given out. For example sources tell us that leading star Brendan Taylor has met up with the Sqaud in Bulawayo but there has been no confirmation that he has been added to the sqaud, nor has the 15 man sqaud been revelved for the series

There was supposed to be a big event last night where the sqaud for the series was supposed to be announced as well as the new franchise domestic league being launched along with the player of the year awards and there has been no press release about what happend.

In regards to tomorrow's match i dont expect to be able to get updates apart from your own Tigercricket.

Zimbabwe Team announced

Wed, 22 Jul 2009 04:03:00 +0000

MARK Vermeulen is set to make a return to the international fold after being named in Zimbabwe's one-day squad for the five-match series against Bangladesh at home next month. His selection comes just months after being acquitted of an arson attack which destroyed Zimbabwe's cricket academy in 2006.

The arson attack could have cost Vermeulen up to 25 years in prison.

He admitted to starting the fire but was acquitted on the grounds that he had been suffering psychiatric problems, including partial complex epilepsy, ever since he suffered a head injury during an ODI against India in 2004.

He made his first steps towards an international comeback when he was named in the A squad for the tour of Namibia in February. He last played an international match in 2004.
Another player making a return to the 19-man squad is the wicketkeeper-batsman Charles Coventry, who last played for Zimbabwe in 2006.

There was no place, however, for the former captain Tatenda Taibu, who has been suspended for ten games by the board, despite being acquitted of assaulting Esther Lupepe, Zimbabwe Cricket's general finance manager.

Another player dropped from the squad which faced Kenya earlier this year is Malcolm Waller.
"An internal disciplinary team made up of three retired magistrates however found him [Taibu] guilty," Zimbabwe Cricket spokesman Shingai Rhuhwaya told Associated Press.

"He has therefore been suspended for 10 matches. He will however be eligible to play for his province."
The two new faces in the squad are the Mashonaland right-arm seamers Trevor Garwe and Admire Manyumwa. There are also recalls for batsman Chamu Chibhabha and offspinner Timycen Maruma.
Bangladesh will play all five matches in Bulawayo from August 9 to 18.
Zimbabwe Squad: Prosper Utseya (capt), Hamilton Masakadza, Ray Price, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Mark Vermeulen, Charles Coventry (wk), Vusi Sibanda, Sean Williams, Elton Chigumbura, Chamu Chibhabha, Forster Mutizwa, Keith Dabengwa, Timycen Maruma, Graeme Cremer, Chris Mpofu, Tawanda Mupariwa, Ed Rainsford, Admire Manyumwa, Trevor Garwe - Cricinfo.com

hmm, would be interesting how Bd boys will face psycho vermulin
my advice to BD boys-------- dont make him mad, dont sledge, give him some free 4, dont appeal too much(specially mushfiq should stop chirping), when u meet vermulein say salam, offer him some bengali food and in a polite way, at the end of the game, invite him to come to BD to fight with hasina and khaleda(in a friendly way)

I'm thinking the opposite wiseshah bro..remember Zimbabwe is our rivals and they are the team closest to us in terms of ranks..let's make Vermuelen as mad as possible when he's on the crease..Mushfiq should be chirping like anything on this tour..remember Ray Price sledging Mushfiq at the end of the 3rd ODI? I want Mushfiq to be chirping him out too..Heck all the players should be chirping!!! It'll make the game a lot spicier!!
