Default Tigers deserve their stripes: Read this Andrew Miller story spending half an hour

Read this Andrew Miller story - After watching BD on 429 for 3 wickets on live scorecard (and also after yesterday); I believe you'll enjoy reading this, I did.

============================================

"Which sporting event in Britain this summer is going to hold the greatest significance for the greatest number of people?

At Lord's on July 21, a nation of 20 million of the most geographically blessed people in the world takes on its oldest, most privileged rivals - when Australia and England (UK population: 59 million) launch the 2005 Ashes. It could be a humdinger of a series, in which case a sizeable proportion of the cricket-watching world will also sit up and take note. But it is equally likely to be another damp squib to add to the eight that have gone before it, in which case 59 million Brits will give up their pretence for another four years and go back to watching football. Unless England can produce a miracle, this year's Ashes will become just another sub-plot in sport's oldest soap opera.

Now consider this. On May 26, Lord's opens its pavilion to 11 representatives of a nation of 150 million of the most wretched underachievers on the planet - a country with a tragic history, a desperate present and a far-from-certain future"

In 1998, the London School of Economics led a study into the link between personal spending power and one's perceived quality of life. It concluded that Bangladeshis are in fact the happiest people on earth, for they are able to derive more pleasure from their modest incomes and unassuming way of life than many other richer nations - the UK was ranked a lowly 32nd.
Never knew that! Pleasantly surprised

Very good read. Honest admissions and justifiable predictions. Masterfully crafted the importance of support from fans.

This is not really a Bangladeshi trait. It's a certain mindset I have seen in people coming from American rural areas as well. It's the "simple life".

While charming, this also explains why Bangladeshis are the "most wretched under-achievers". If you are happy with your "kismat", you will hardly improve by yourself.

With happiness around who needs improvement, whatever it is

On a different note, we are yet to achieve that happiness in cricket

Andrew,

I don't think you can imagine what it means to us to be represented like this. What can I say, a thanks seems too little.

I feel sorry for Andrew, what we gave him in return!

After today's performance, I'm wondering what Telegraph & Co. will write

Thanks guys. Much appreciated. Thanks in particular to those who helped with their thoughts and opinions. As some of you will recognise, many of those stats and facts originated from Banglacricket!

As for the Sussex defeat, don't dwell on it too much. The lessons will have been learned, no question. Just don't expect the answers overnight!

Berlin-based NGO, Transparency International, has ranked Bangladesh as the world's most corrupt country for four years running.

What's this ? That should be removed . We know what we are , noone have to tell us like this atleast . Anyway you also said someone can argue on that "country got the cricket team as it deserves" , that's a great thing to say though . Article was good to read except that .
I also didn't write this to hurt anyone never mind please but it looks very bad to me as a Bangladeshi .

Bangla bhai: Nigeria used to have this dubious "Most Corrupt" award until they signed off all their oil to the foreign interests. Nigeria has huge amount of oil, still poor.

Not to worry brother. At least for now, It seems none of these awards can make us sign off our national assets to the big brothers.

I am guessing he did a search on this forum and the news of the study was in one of the threads. I remember having seen such a thread.

Lots of hidden monimukta under the ashes here.
