He was never my favourite footballer but again it is a harsh decison to drop him from England squad. He is still well capable to make it into the playing XI.
McLaren started with a stunt let's see how he progresses.

Yikes this is bad. I don't really believe Beckham deserved to be dropped from the team. Stripping him off his C would have sufficed, but who knows what goes on inside the dressing room. Perhaps they prefer "shunno gowal" to "dushto goru".

He is trying to be disassociated with Sven. It was cheap shot to satisfy blood thirsty english media. If 'form in WC' issue than how come Lampard is still there? I think Beckham has the highest assist of the english player. Without doubt, he is still the best dead ball player in the world

McClaren conquers Greece
http://www.thedailystar.net/2006/08/18/d60818041039.htm
Looks like he's brought about quite a few changes in the formation as well as the game plan. Doesn't seem to like Eriksson that much - and neither do I. My respect for the guy declined when I watched him sitting around with his mouth shut as England were going down to Portugal. McClaren, on the other hand, was doing all the yelling.
Meanwhile, looks like Beckham will remain in Madrid for some time.

Not sure what McClaren was thinking when he dropped him, but the new coach seems to have it all planned out. Let's see how far he can take this bunch of overrated under-achievers.

McLaren seems to have a plan setout for the younger players, besides Beckham's time as a captain was coming to an end sooner or later, so England had to find a new man for the job. Whatever he's doing so far is better than Sven anyway..

Yes, he is certainly heading in the right direction. I guess the first step will be to win Euro 2008. I like the way he played Hargreaves right from the word go - something that Sven was always reluctant in doing.

England team for the Euro qualifiers announced
Theo Walcott was left out because McClaren opted for the more experienced Andy Johnson. He told Theo that he'll get a chance once he secures his place in his club, though.
And finally, McClaren's planning on building a "Club England".
I really like where all this is going. However, all of this will be useless if they can't reach the finals of Euro 2008. Right now, all they have is that win against Greece, which may or may not be an indication of the long term effects of McClaren's changes.
