Default UNLEASH THE FURY: Shahadat Hossain

It's high time we let go of our inhibition and scare the opponent. Tamim, Aftab, Ashraful, Sakib, Nafees do the damage from the batsmen's side, now it's time to let our wild card lose. It's a shame our fastest man has sat on the benches for so long. But no longer.

Shahadat, should play the next match and mark my words, with him in the side, we are a side more than just scary, a side who will suddenly come alive with it's aggressive intent, competitive spirit, and physical superiority.

Come on tigers, unleash the fury..................

I Think Shahadat Can Play In The Place of Russell Against Bermuda.

Replasing Russell by Shahadat will increase BD's speed for fast bowlers. Bermuda may not cope with the speed, line and lenght of Mashrafee and Shahadat.

Playing Sahadat will be a nice move, but i don't want Golla tomorrow. His days in Bangladesh cricket is still far from over but we should show our faith rather in Sahriar Nafees. He is now out of form and we need a more confident SN in the super 8(If we qualify). The match against Bermuda will give him a good chance to come back in form. The only batsman who is now underperfoming accept SN is Habibul Bashar. And replacing him by Golla won't be nice at all.

i dont really think shahadat should be thrown into the super8 matches without playing in the Berm game, actually..he's quite wayward sometimes, and need to fix that and get some confidence before the big matches..

he played well against australia at home back in april...was quite accurate.

his pace can reach 140...and razzak may sit out with a groin injury against bermuda...

No changes. This game is way too important to do any kind of experiment.

What is the fastest shahadat has bowled? I see reports of 135 to 140 kph. That seems to be about as fast as mashrafee can bowl. So whats so special about shahadat in terms of pace?

In 20 overs in a World Cup, against two of the fancied sides, Rasel has conceded 89 runs. What is wrong with that ?

Is he anywhere close to Malinga or Tait? In West Indies all you need is to be able to control your bowling, vary the pace and line and length to trouble the batsmen. Pure pace is no help in WI pitches so far.

nothing wrong with rasell. but That pace bermuda has always played but they have rearly faced pace of shadat's or mashrafi...they will be for in back foot. and rasell when he gets hit there r no other way for him to hide just continue with his bowl where as shadat can go slower very pace and bang in short...

If Shahadat controlled his line and lenghts better, he could be a real good force with Marshrafe, but for now that a pretty big "If" right now. Shahadat has had some good games against the lesser teams in ODI's but I'm not sure if it'll be enough against the real strong teams.

Rasel also hasn't done anything wrong to take his spot take away from him either. I guess he could have taken some wickets. Against India, his bowling pressure along with Mashrafe allowed Mashrafe to take 2 early wickets.

If we are to play as winner in the super 8 we should try Shahadat tomorrow against Bermuda. I think the reasoning behind playing Shahdat in place of Rassel would be the same reason why Tamim is preferred over JO.

The problem with Shahadat, however, is that he will give batsmen loose balls to hit where as any batsman can hit Rassel whenever they want to due to his lack of pace which will be suicidal in super 8.

We needed Shadat against Sril Lanka .... not Bermuda ... a team like Bermuda can only gain from his wary line & length. Against SL we needed his certain good balls to take a few wickets ... against Bermuda, our lineup for the first 2 matches are good enough, especially since we want to have a very convincing victory.

Only argument in favor of playing Shahadat may be, giving him some match practice before playing Australia / SA, where we may need him again.

I always view Shahadat as a stock bowler, only to be used in tough matches expecting some miracle from him. Unless, of course, he can establish more control in his line & length.

You mean STRIKE bowler right? A stock bowler is some-one like Tapash Baisya or Sakib. Someone who's expected to bowl long spells of line and length and hopefully get a wicket or two. A strike bowler is one who will produce a few jaffa's and force a good batsman to give up his wicket.

I used the term "Stock" (Bowler) from a general perspective, i.e., we don't use him in all matches, only in very difficult ones expecting something extra-special. My bad that I did not consider the commonly used cricketing term "Stock Bowler" and anticipate the mis-understanding.
