Default Current BD Players ODI Batting Stats From 2006

I am providing some stats about current key BD Batsmans' performances from 2006. It includes overall details along with filtered stats of playing home;away;minows and test playing countries. You should note that I have considered only last 1 yr performance from 20/02/06 Srilanka-BD series in BD to recent India-BD series.

You may find some interesting information. Then you comment about the squad selected for Srilanka one day tour.

I don't think you've visited the link yet. There, you'll get ODI batting stats of our batsmen against Major teams, and some filtered stats from the post-Cardiff era. Plus some already discussed issues. Go ahead, click on the link I gave... the threads here doesnt bite

Tamim does better against test nation and sakib and ash does the same against both minnows and test nation, however shahriar is the biggest minnow basher. Good to see Aftab having good strike rate against all. Wish Ashraful had a better average, it better than his regular average, but still needs to be a lot better, if he is to get his averge into the 30s

So, I took this initiative to filter out batting stats against ODI teams ranked 1-8, and decided to share them with you guys. I will try to update stats here after, at least, every 3-5 ODIs.

Note that I only included stats for specialist batsmen that are currently in the national team or have decent chances to come back to the national team. Also, I did not include any player with less then ten qualifying matches, I think that should be the least number of matches a batsman should play against elite teams before we start forming our opinions about him.

All of you are welcome to verify and correct stats here within the conditions described above.

The above table gives a very depressing picture about Bangladesh team batting line up and does not reflect how much some of the batsmen have improved in last two years. So, I decided (with recommendation from Miraz) to give a separate table for stats from 2005 June and onwards(since the NatWest series where Bangladesh had beaten Australia). For this table to, I included players with nine or more qualifying matches (lowered the bar to include Tamim).

(My fellow staff member Mahir took his time out to calculate strike rates and %runs scored from boundaries in this period.)

Tushar Imran11014212.91320056.8038.41 (4s : 10 ; 6s : 3)

Our wicketkeepers (Mushfiq and Pilot) bat most of the time at 7th/8th batting positions which, imo, do not qualify as positions for a specialist batsman. Their percentage of not out innings are higher comparing to those of specialist batsmen because they come to bat late, and thus they enjoy higher batting averages than many specialist batsmen do .So, I decided to give a separate table for them.

despite those gaps in the teeth, we all feel the sting when reality bites.

I guess you may understand it now the difference. I have just considered last 1 yr performance only to look at the current form /trend. It includes all the matches played from 20/02/06 to recent BD-Ind series.

If the choice is between going on Cricinfo, locating a player's profile, generating 4 different sets of stats in the filter, and repeating this process 10 times for 10 different players, or scrolling through iqu15's work in this thread, I know which one I'd choose

Excellent work mate.
