11th April'07 - Let's Demonstrate Our Support to Tigers!
“I realized from a question by a journalist in the press conference after the win against South Africa that there were many negative reactions back in home after playing bad in last two matches. I did not believe it right away. I always tell others proudly that the people of Bangladesh are not like our neighboring countries. Bangladesh turns into a country of joy and festival once we win a big match – which is a big inspiration for us. We definitely want to play the best every time. We are also playing better cricket regularly now a days than previous. But definitely things are not happening in every game. If it was, we could be equal to Australia then. We don’t need much support during our best shows; it is the ‘bad time’ when we desperately need the support. Only one request, please don’t lose faith on us after playing a few matches badly.”
– Bashar, Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team in The Prothom Alo (Apology for poor translation).
My friends, who knows better than us how good or bad our team is, how we are playing and what is the direction of our performance graph? It’s obvious that we are not the best but can play the best on a given day. What we are looking now is consistency – which needs time, which needs fan’s support. When our team plays bad, the heart of the tigers are already broken and there is no use of showing them over reaction. End of the day, it’s just a sports where we laugh when our tigers win, we cry when they lose.
Over the years, I am convinced that the members in BC are well-mannered, knowledgeable and of course emotional fans of our team. We fight, we debate, we criticize, we argue here with many issues which all end up with the message that we love our team by heart. We also know that all the evils we have seen lately are just a few people who really can make chaos. Can we promise one thing here today? When any over-reaction or angriness is shown to our team by frustrated activists around us, I meant not just in BC, we will try to inspire those people to refrain from those, remind them that our tigers are just players, they tried, they failed. We should be grateful to them for bringing many happiest moments and glories in our life.
An Idea:
To show our full support to our team, I have a request to all BC members. Let’s all of us change our signature for a single day when we will be playing our next match against England i.e. 11th April stating –
Win Or Lose - We are with you BANGLADESH!
- the signature that many of you already used before.
It would be a unique day for BanglaCricket when all the BC members will have a unique signature on 11th April to show our full support to our team BANGLADESH.

Absolutely you and we are!
But it is just a possitve jesture from our side to our team. Observe a day with common slogan for the team. Is that very hard? Pleeeeeeeeease...........

If Bashar is talking about the effigy burning, most of the BC members already strongly condemned that incident. Bashar needs to tell his journalist buddies not to encourage that kind of behavior from certain group of fans.
If he is talking about criticism of his own form, well, buddy you have to perform with bat first if you want people off your back.
But, yeah, he is justified asking the fans not to criticise the whole team after every lose.

My heartiest gratitude to you all. Thank you. It's so nice to feel that we all are showing our little gesture together to our team. Wish you all a bunch of happiness soon (and I know, nothing could be better than winning ENG right at the moment).
