Twenty20 World Cup: Can Bangladesh Do it?
Here is an interesting fact for all you guys: Bangladesh is ranked 2nd in the twenty20 ranking. Check it out.
Now that you have my attention, imagine Bangladesh playing against West Indies and South Africa ( here are the fixtures) and everytime the ranking is shown Bangladesh is after Australia. Are our dreams coming true so soon? Well, we just played one game and won that quite comprehensively and so is our ranking..................
But, twenty20 world cup is for sure going to be a hell of a tournament. It's almost comparable to a world cup for me. It's here to stay and so is it's importance. Why do you think teams like south africa, australia , new-zealand can chase or build targets consistently over and around 300+? It's the magic of twenty20.
If we want to win over the power hitting of West Indies and South Africa, we must use our best hitters: I would go with
1)Tamim
2)Junaed
3)Aftab
4)Nazmul Hossain Milon
5)Ashraful (captain)
6)Nadif
7)Dhiman
8)Mashrafe
9)Shahadat
10)Russel
11)Razzak
I think this is the best twenty20 team from

Wow.........a thread on the 20/20 world cup already?
Well..........I'm very much against the idea of a 20/20 world cup. I dont like the way the game's played.
And your team has absolutely no experience. How'd this Milon guy get in? He hit a few big hits in one match and that, in a first class match too, now he's bound for the 20/20 world cup with the national side? Impressive.
Good luck to this team. They'll need it.

we r 2nd because we only played 1 match and we won. other teams played more than that, some they won and some they lost. BD might go down after few matches.

We've only played one 20/20 match and that too, against Zimbabwe. We need much more experience than that.

I am not sure about WI but SA has been playing 20/20 in their domestic cricket for while now. Plus SA pitches are similar to what we saw in Barbados (bouncy and fast). That is only way SA and WI can play (i mean most of their bowlers are fast). It may prove difficult for our players. Then when the game is that short anything is possible.

nice post bro. i think we have a better chance in twenty20 as we used to play 20-25 overs matches in our schools, and I can bet you that, those games were hell of a game.

I find Twenty20 a more luck less skill game. Close your eye and go for it.
If they allow associate teams, I wont be surprised if an associate team wins the world cup beating top test nations. Anything can happen in this game.

Mahmood bhai: Twenty20 is I think the only form of cricket that has both luck and skill involved to the same extent. This is another short form of the game, except that in this case you're not given enough opportunity to settle down. In this case, you're tested for your skills in speeding up the score and not worry about wicket. And as far as associate teams, I agree with you, coz as I said, there is skills needed for speeding up the runs. If the batsmen have enough luck, even jhata shots will make it to the boundary for sixes. Remember Mashrafee's horizontal straight drive? Those shots will be cheered for in Twenty20.

i think this nazmul hossain should be checked out.
On April 4th of 2007, Dhaka vs Rajshahi he was the star. (dhanmondi cricket ground)
In that game chasing 300 for 50 overs dhaka was 112/7 (23.5 overs). Then came Nazmul. The game changed. With a SR of 161 he demolished Rajshahi's attack (spared noone). next wicket (his) fell on 286. 9 sixes over all and 11 fours. Dhaka won by one wicket in the last ball. Enamul Haque, Nadir shah and Raqibul were referees and match referees.

Na kabir bhai. I did not copy paste. part time teacher hoiye kono din ei kaj korbo na. copy-paste without reference that is a no-no. pura plagiarism hoiye jabay. Paraphrased/summarized the score sheet.
The reason I mentioned those referees/umps cause they are international standards. They are the first hand witnesses. They also have link to BCB/selection committee. I am sure, if the board has any buddhi they would talk to those umps before judging players by their statsheets only.
Any board member reading and still not doing this, need to relay the message. If you are already doing this hats off to you.

Tigers_eye bhai: apni na amake kabir bhaiyA bolar kotha?
Okay, I guess your inclusion of the match officials make sense. From what I think, our current ODI squad has 8 players who should make it to the WC Twenty20. Other than that, we should pick from these pinch hitters that are having some jaws to drop quite frequently.
The people from ODI that I want to see in Twenty20 are: Tamim, Aftab, Ashraful, Razzak, Sakib, Mushy, Rasel and Mashrafee.
I'm including Sakib, Razzak, and Rasel for their bowling performance, not batting. On top of these, I want Ashraful to be able to bowl a few overs too. Mash gets his spot as a pure allrounder in this form of the game. That leaves 3 spots open for the team, and I'd fill these up with 3 quality pinch hitters. Nazmu Hussain is an all-rounder, so that should make him a tempting candidate. Junaed Imrose is another tempting candidate for his consistency in recent times. And Nadif Chowdhury, I have little knowledge about him. I see his name is flying in the air these days...so he should be another good candidate.
Please, no need for Bashar/JO/Rajin/Shahadat in Twenty20.
