Harbhajan and Agarkar were dropped to shake them out of their slumber and not because they are not good bowlers. In fact, they are genuine match-winners.
Also, that they were dropped from their team doesn't make some other player of some other team better than them.
The comparisons don't quite cut.

But if this was for the crowd pleasing.. do you really think crowd would watch a Harbhajan or a Sakib like excitement? With his brilliant batting, feilding, bowling,, Sakib does overshadow any Harbhajan. I think this selection pleases the ole dawgs than the real fans of cricket.

DhakaBlues,
I am not exactly pleased with the list - honestly i don't approve of the selected list myself. That said, I am seeing an overdose of "oh so and so didn't get selected, must be again some indian conspiracy" and hence the need to bring some objectivity.
There were 4 selectors - one each from India, SL, Pakistan and bangladesh and the list is what they have agreed on. BD Fans grudge should be against their own selectors. But it seems India and Indians are the perennial punching bags - it's sickening.
Should Ashraful and Mashrafe be in that list - yes. If not for whole lot of reasons other than they respresent young exciting talent from an upcoming cricketing nation and their inclusion would be a big encouragment. And that should have been the line of reasoning rather than this now so common "Ooooh India did it to us".
If Rafique has been selected ahead of both, maybe the reason was he has served BD for quite a many years and this was their way of saying "Thank You". Maybe the young talents will get many other chances - rafique may not.
In either case, pushing the argument that so and so should've been selected because he is better than so and so doesn't quite cut.

Indian fans are upset/disgruntled with Sachin doesn't make Ashraful better than Sachin, not even in his rainy days and not for atleast a couple of years to come if not more. It is sickening for me to even start that kind of comparison.
The disenchantment of fans with Sachin is because of what they have seen of Sachin and what they expect of him.
What Indian fans think or talk about the Indian players is not a measure of how good their compatriots are in restrospect. Those are two different scales.

for bangladesh and bangladeshi fan ashraful is 1000 times beeter than sachin bcoz if sachin play 1 big innings, india loose( most of times) but if ash play 1 big innings, bd win.......sachin play to increase his average not for country!!!!!

This says it all :
Dhoni in one day team but not in 20/20. Instead its Akmal in the 20/20 ? huh?
These selectors come from the same academy that taught de Silva to be an umpire.
MM should have been picked for the one day team as well. Razzak also has a strong case.
This Afro-Asian cup is a joke. Its all about money and marketing. Nothing else. We should actually refuse to release our players. Our players need some rest after non-stop action over the last year. Plus, we have a big year coming up. Why bother with this dui nambari tournament..

5 from India?? After the way they were humiliated?... and Harbajhan?? Now I know this ODI selection has no credibility. They might as well send India to play.
Still, 4 BD players for 20/20 is good and hopefully they will actually get to play.

I would not complain if none of our players got selected for the ODI series. Playing three ODIs in Chennai in June will be taxing and chances of injuries are great. I am happy that we still get to share the fun in the T20I.
