Rajin Saleh called up as a potential replacement for Tushar Imran
Bangladesh in New Zealand, 2007-08
Bangladesh call for Rajin Saleh
Cricinfo staff
December 19, 2007
As a result of their second injury scare of the week, Bangladesh have called up Rajin Saleh as a potential replacement for middle-order batsman Tushar Imran.
Imran sat out Bangaldesh's second tour match, a wash-out against Northern Districts at Second Park, with a sore left shoulder. The 23-year-old will undergo a fitness test on December 28, the morning of the second one-day international in Napier.
Saleh, 24, has played 43 ODIs and 22 Tests, averaging 27.19 and 23.92 respectively. He will leave Bangladesh on December 24.
Uncapped left-arm medium-fast bowler Sajidul Islam was earlier called up to replace the injured Syed Rasel, who has been ruled out of Bangladesh's three-ODI and two-Test tour.
Bangladesh lost their first tour match, also against ND, by seven wickets and have two more 50-over opportunites before the ODI series kicks off in Auckland on Boxing Day.

from daily star:
Rajin Saleh joins team in NZ to replace injured Tushar Imran
UNB, Dhaka
Bangladesh Cricket Board ((BCB) will send top order batsman Rajin Saleh to New Zealand to join the national team for the rest of the tour, replacing injured Tushar Imran.
Rajin will leave Dhaka for Down Under on December 24.
BCB took the decision to draft Rajin, as middle order batsman Tushar Imran sustained shoulder injury during the 1st warm-up match against Northern Knights in New Zealand.
Tushar Imran, who is almost certain to miss the 2nd one-day international match against the hosts on December 28, will appear for fitness test on the same day.
He missed Tuesday’s second warm-up match against Northern Knights due to injury along with Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, who was given rest in the match that later washed out.
Earlier, uncapped pacer Sajedul Islam of Barisal Division left for New Zealand on Tuesday to replace injury-plagued left-arm pacer Syed Rasel for the rest of the tour.
Sajedul, who emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing first class domestic cricket (national cricket league), is expected to make his debut against the Kiwis in the third warm-up match on Friday.
Rasel dislocated his left collarbone during the first warm-up match against the Knights on Sunday and was examined by an orthopaedic surgeon in Hamilton on Monday.

i think this is great news . because rajin is the batsman who could stay in crize and make big score . i think that will very helpul if he plays in odi as middle order batsman .

Rajin in odi? I think selector doing wrong. Now this squad shaped a test squad. Alok would be a better choice.

Brilliant now were gonna have a bunch of top order batsmen who're gonna choke up our own rate Javed, Tamim, Rajin to put more pressure on our big hitters Juniad, Ash, Aftab and Masri and put more pressure on players who can't play fast Mushi, Sakib and Reza

No doubt about Mushi. But SHAKIB & REZA can't play fast!!! who hit Shaun Tait over point for six in t20 wc? Reza is one of the biggest hitters in the team. Don't know how some one say they can't play fast.

Imrul could have been a better choice. Alok won't be bad either.

Imrul would have been much better choice for One day
Though look on the good side, rajin would be readily avaiable to play practice test matches.

sometimes selectors really puzzle me. I hope Rajin, Mehrab and Javed doen't play at the same time. If they do, corssing 180 will be a big challenge.

Was Rajin's form really good in the NCL or something? Because this selection doesn't make that much sense to me, otherwise. Rajin is a talented batsman who can stay at the crease for a long time, but his Srite Rate is low. And we already have 3 openers on the team, so it would have been a good option to send Alok, who's in form and a middle order batsman with experience, to New Zealand.

Good choice.
I dont think Rajin is called for the ODI series.
He is there for the test squad.
It would been a toss up between Tushar and Farhad.
With Farhad's good performance and tushar's injury, it made it easier for the selectors and the team management.
Imrul would not have been a good choice.
There is absolutely no possibility for him to play in the test.
And with Junaed and Sajid, i dont think the team management would wanna field a team with quarter of it debutant.
So, why fly him all the way?

tushar out, we're not missing anything big. rajin is gonna be too slow for ODIs, not a good selection. alok would have the best middle order selection.
i just hope tamim hits for whatever he can score. we don't need a 27 ball dozen from him if rajin/JO is in the side.

We should have call Shariar Nafees. He is 10 time better then Rajin Saleh.Though he didnt get that much run in NCL but he is one of our experienxe batsman at this moment.

We shouldve had SN. He had the experience to open with Junaid. Poor selection really.

In the report, it says Tushar may miss the second ODI. What's up with the first ODI? Are we going to play the first ODI after the second ODI?
1. Tamim
2. Junaid
3. Aftab
4. Shakib
5. Ash
6. Mehrab Jr./ Rajin/ Nazmul
7. Forhad
8. Mushi
9. Mash
10. Abdur Razzak
11. Shahadat
If Nazmul is selected then 7 to 11 moves up a notch and he becomes the 11th man. Rajin becomes 12th and fields.

Imrul or Golam should have been sent, at least Shahriar. The new selectors continue to suck at their job.
