Default Fire BCB Marketing head/team

http://www.thedailystar.net/story.php?nid=51349
BCB wants sponsors to come to their feet with tender that surpasses their minimum bid. On the other hand, sponsors are not interested at all.

Title sponsor $85k for New Zealand home series (October 2008)
In Stadium Package 1, $55k
In Stadium Package 2, $35k.

Only two sponsors Axiom Technology and Adtouch had applied with very low bids.

Can BCB fire the BCB Marketing guy? Either he is not doing his job or he (his team) is incompetent. Does BCB even have a marketing department?

+++

This is a reoccurance theme. Certainly BCB is not learning from the past mistakes. Patching up in the last moment with revenue goals not meeting, is just poor management.

Shob Faltu.

85k for title sponsor is very low. I doubt they have advertised in NZL also. Why sell it middlle man like axiom or adtouch. Can't they go direct. Indians are good pulling revenue from advertise how they do it.

Yes. True, but for other nations.

No one wants to back a loser. You want to hit paydirt? You gotta be worth it. There IS a direct relationship between your performance and your pay. Same applies to advertisers/sponsors. We are just not commercially viable. If we don't start winning even 1-2 out of every 5 matches, why should anyone bother?

On the contrary, Billion dollar board's team have no way near the performance as they should right?

Marketing is selling. Food with good looks and smell has an appeal to the masses, does not matter how bad it may taste.

Marketing should be working on the figures like, number of viewers watching the matches, not who is winning. One team is winning anyway.

It's true that the viewers increase on one side when the side is winning. Viewers also increase when the matches are competitive. So the sponsors will be more interested to pay when we can play more competitive cricket. As that will bring in a lot of neutral cricket loving viewers.

Though incase of BD, BD viewers are always there, irrespective of the team winning or losing. But we are missing a lot of international viewers. So the sponsors will be definitely more eager to pay more, as we get competitive. But the marketing people of BCB needs to be efficient in exploiting the situations, or the sponsors will exploit them to keep it low.

Do we know what finally happened? How much did BCB close these deals for in the end?
