Default What BD batters can learn from Lara

This is the reason why Lara has been averaging an astonishing 70+ in his last 14 tests.

Quote:
Bristling with determination, Lara spent half an hour of the lunch interval batting in the nets. Once he got in, nine overs into the second session, he found the ideal balance between impeccable defence and typical aggression. Unerringly finding gaps in the field, he stroked 12 fours in his 93 balls.

Lara said in an interview early this year that (paraphrasing here) the big secret behind the second round of success with the bat in his career is straight-bat play. He had to go back to the basics, and resist the temptation to play across the line.

Default Haha!

95.5 Price to Lara, SIX, tremendous hit! flighted delivery outside the
off stump, Lara comes down the tack and lofts it over the extra
over boundary

95.6 Price to Lara, SIX, one handed six! again comes down the track and
this time lofts it over the long-on fence, taking one hand away as
he played the shot

96.1 Blignaut to Dillon, three runs, played down the the vacant deep
fine leg region
Lara back in strike

96.2 Blignaut to Lara, FOUR, pitched up outside the off stump, lofted
over the point fielder, ball races away to the boundary, another
amazing shot from the prince!

...

97.3 Price to Lara, no run, flighted delivery outside the off stump,
defended watchfully, playing for lunch now

Arnab says: Yeah right!

97.4 Price to Lara, FOUR, outside the off stump and spinning in, Lara
quickly goes back and cuts it away to the vacant backward of
square leg boundary, another perfectly placed shot

And that's lunch. Lara 191* in 201 balls. SR 95.02

Fastest double century is Astle's in 153 balls.

2nd Fastest by Gillchrist in 212 balls.

-------------

Lara is also the highest run scorer in this calendar year 2003:

1053 runs(so far), 4 centuries, 4 fifties in 14 innings.

topping Hayden(15 innings) and Grame Smith(16 innings)

Averaging at least 80.92 (if he runs out of partners and stays not out in this innings, he will average 87.66)

Default Ray Price is an idiot

I hate that guy. I just hate his face. I dont know why, but he always makes me think of some colonial white fool who doesn't treat his black countrymen too well.
