never heard that Bulbul played for any county team....pretty sure you are confusing about some minor county league or something similar to that!

Lets see what CI and all other news media says-

Better than an Ipl contract. County cricket is the best place to improve your cricket. Good luck Shakib

Great news. All Bangladesh needed was a player in proper county. God bless you Shakib
Btw, Shakib followed county? In an earlier interview he said he never even followed Bangladesh cricket, but he followed county :P ? Hard to believe really

Yes that is indeed hard to believe. There is hardly any county telecast available in Bangladesh. Probably he meant he followed through scores and news.

Well deserved and it came at a perfect time for him. It will definitely help him to mature as a cricketer.

i wouldn't worry about his international commitments now, coz what he learns from experience can only benefit our team, so now, he needs this, and i feel tamim also deserved it in a way, maybe for yorkshire.
prolly you'll see me freestylin with my man shakib

That's exactly what I thought when I read the news in Cricinfo - a bit of County Relationship Management I guess!

Anyways it's great news - congrats to Shakib. BTW does anyone know if Worcestershire is playing in div 1 or 2 next season?

I think Worcestershire is in Div2, the article on the ECB site quotes that Worcestershire were relegated to LV, i am not sure what that means but I think Its division 2. This doesn't hamper the significance of the news though. he will be playing for major county unlike Bulbul,Ashraful etc.
And a county contract is a much greater achievement than yielding an IPL contract, in IPL the owner looks at the stats and buys the *best* they can afford. But county sides go much deeper than mere stats. Also an IPL team can buy as many foreign players as they want, but county teams can pick only one or two[ I am not sure about the number, but it cant be more than 2] So getting a county contract is a greater achievement in my books

Many many congrats to Sakib!
Be proud because you got the real deal. Something that matters unlike the IPL. And represent your country! You deserved it!

I saw the name of Ray Price (Zim) in the list of foreign players and was wondering whether he had any contribution in it. He very well saw in first hand Shakib's fury and it is not easy to forget how he terorized them (48 runs all out).

Wow!! really great news...
The contract was just around the corner, imo.

Keep them coming. Sakib would be "first Bangladeshi" in many more things to come in the future.
