Btw, Shakib followed county? In an earlier interview he said he never even followed Bangladesh cricket, but he followed county :P ? Hard to believe really

Shakib also said he never even played proper cricket until a few years back. Here he said he has been following county for the last 4 years, since he started player for BD team.
I liked the part where he said he will try to pave the way for more Bangladeshi players to play county by performing well himself.
Wonderful news.

Isn't that a slap on the face for IPL?
Go ice man, break the ice on county cricket.

Personally, I liked the part where he said that he wants to finish his graduation midst of all this. My personal bias but I think education is important even for cricket to be able to be able to apply the knowledge ( and to understand what world class coaches are asking a player to do) Thats what I call comittment and thinking beyond cricket. He is not thinking short term but as a whole for his life beyond the game of cricket. He is like Zinedin Zidan of soccer, who was a gifted player and dominated the game but never got overwhelmed with it off the field.
For Sakib, the county means no IPL for him most likely. But he didnt care about IPL nor County nor PCL... he just thought about his own desires, set his own goals and worked towards it ( instead of blaming a bat, change of action, or fate) . He is miles apart from his compatriots in terms of skills, education and dedication.
But he is now at the reach of the peak, he only can go up or down!! I believe the former..

Alhamdulillahi Rabbil A'lamin
I have no doubt in my mind that he will continue his superb form whereever he plays...in fact worwickshire may secure promotion to division 1(correct me if i am wrong) because of him...
it will be a great experince for him
no doubt or criticism that he perfectly deserves it...

One of the best all rounders Ian Botham played in Worcestershire
One of the best all rounders Kapil Dev played in Worcestershire
One of the best all rounders Imran Khan played in Worcestershire
The current best all rounder Shakib al Hasan is going to play in Worcestershire.
Congratulations Shakib.
I hope you are the pioneer of other emerging BD players who will play in County Cricket in the years to come.

This is the best news I have heard this whole week. I am so proud and happy for Shakib. He is the real deal. This county contract will not only be great exposure for him but it will improve him as a cricketer manifold. Imran khan one of the legends of the game wrote in his autobiography that country cricket has helped shape him as a cricketer. He was a very unpredictable and wayward bowler before he played in county cricket. The best news for bangladesh and sakib is that he will now go miles ahead of his teammates in terms of ability and skills. County cricket is the best place for polishing one's cricket skills, even better than international cricket itself because you get to play very very high standard of cricket without the high pressures associated with international cricket. I cant wait to see sakib version 2 after his county stint. I pray and I sincerely believe that he would be monster for worcestershire.
If bangladesh cricket team was a mixture of breeds of dogs he is the pitbull in our team.

Well done & Congratulations - I was just thinking about Shakib playing county last week and here came the news.
50K pounds a year - not bad but 40% tax on it just kills it.

What great news! Way better than IPL! Not only will he not play Twenty20's (not a fan of that format), but he will also play in England and get used to the conditions there! Not to mention that he will be playing with the best players in the World. This can only improve Shakib's already brilliant career and hopefully open up the passage for other BD players. I'm talking about YOU, Tamim. Put it all together this coming year and you will find yourself in the same position as Shakib.

Congrats Shak!
Worcs current form should not bother him much, he is well conditioned to play for underdogs.

Well done to Shakib for deserving his chance in county cricket.
However, how much time is he going to get to play for the county?
Bangladesh's test series with England ends on 8th June. Then the Asia Cup takes place between 15th - 25th June. After that the ODI series, Bangladesh vs England, between 8th - 12th July. So definately a big chunk of the season is missed considering english county season is from April to end of September.
Inshallah, he will do extremely well for the games he does play in.
