From this interview its clear that both ash and SN will play in 2nd test.Still i think that SN is a good test player so he desecrve a second chance but i think ash is becoming pain for up day by day.Ash's average is only 15 in last 2 years its totally disappointing.I think ash need to play more domestic to make him correct. If they say there is no replacement as a cause then its hard to believe how can we get players unless we try for some one?We can thy with Naeem,Rajin,Mehrab jn . . . I think more options can be found as well.Definately Naeem is a good prospect cant we try with him?

If Siddons keeps saying Ashraful is irreplaceable, I don't see why Ashraful should feel any pressure to perform.

He should feel the pressure to perform for his own self-respect. I don't think he reacts well to pressure. He will either come out blazing or go in a shell in response to this latest Siddons comment. He has been lucky before when pressure mounted on him like this. Here is to hoping that he scores a century next match.

^^ Have to disagree there, Beamer. Pattern shows Ashraful plays at his best when he is on the verge of being dropped from the team.

My gut tells me that Ashraful will score a 50 or so in the next match and survive the axe. But my logic tells me, based on statistics, that he will fail and eventually bedropped from the squad like Rokon/Biddut/Bashar...

Agree with you. They should discuss with him rather than say it to media. It will be harm for him as well.

Regardless, I just hope he does well this test. We need the runs from top four, and I hope he can score the bulk of it.

Ash will hopefully come out strong.
He knows now for sure that he needs to perform next two innings otherwise he is done.

The part that I felt most worried about was the last para.

Insisting with SN at 3 wont do our team any good at all, if he is good against spin, let him come at 5 or 6

Ash is irreplaceable!!!!??? r u sh**ig me ...OH COME ON NOW....Some one here here made a valid point that ASH ain't Tendulkar or Dravid that we can replace...very true..Dude give me a bat i would score more run than him (ASH)...
Since this guy (Ash) knowns that he cannot be replaceable...HE DOESN'T CARE...how he play...bottom line is this; Rajin or Alok or Even Naime would do better than him...
WE HAD ENOUGH OF ASH...time to take a hike buddy ... come to USA ... I will give u free a ticket and U can work at restaurant ...lol...

he is replaceable, but the selectors and siddons obviously have no confidence in the back-up players. they're holding on to the fact that he makes a century every 10 matches, i'm sure in not so much time tamim will be doing that, mushy could be doing it if he was a couple of spots higher in the order, shakib if he gets his head in gear will be able to do it, riyad is no mug with the bat and i've no dout that naeem can be successful.

as other's have said and i've said in the past, unless you give the others a chance you're not going to know whether they can replace ash or not, but a couple of players have done enough to deserve the chance and ash hasn't done enough to deserve his spot in the team. boggles the mind what's going through siddons and selectors head, i just don't get it.

also ash isn't good underpressure, he's good under one specific type of pressure which is when he's about to be dropped, but we want a player who can perform when the team is underpressure and in a difficult spot like in the last test match. if ash was good under pressure then BD would have won a lot more matches because he would have pulled them out of a lot more situations but he hasn't. much like his match winner tag the pressure tag comes with coincidence, just because he's done it on occassion doesn't mean he's good at those things, he's played soo many matches he's bound to have a couple of good days.

Default What is the right approach?

Why Ashraful is important? When we started playing test, we focused on lasting 3 days. Gradually, in one-dyers, we became a team who can beat any team in the world in our day. Which is significantly important but unfortunately it is not yet same for the Test Cricket. It is the player like Ashraful who made it possible for our one-day games. But he is very inconsistent in Test Cricket. He is the one that any opponents, even the best, look to get rid off. Because they know what he is capable of. Whether with the assistance from the umpire (in New Zealand) or by any means (through research) means, they look to get him out ASAP. He is a threat to any opponent but in test cricket he is still a threat but his batting has not been compiled.

Now, rather talking about whether he should be in the test team or not, I would like to bring into your attention a different prospective.

How many times did we hear in the commentary about his weaknesses and problems? He is a very capable player and well respected by the opponents as mentioned above but my question is what BCB did to help this incredible talent unlike anyone else in our team? How many talents we tried and threw away and when is this cycle on nonsense will stop? Did we get any batting specialist to work with him or with our other batsmen? What initiative did the BCB took regarding it? Did we ever hire any batting consultant? Did we assign any assistant staff to work with these batsman months long to work to remedy their problems? As per as I know, the answer is practically no. Paying salary is not enough. A good organization also takes care of their employee and don’t threat them with ultimatum. A good organization sent their employees to training and brings consultants for improvement. We cannot afford to let these talents trying to troubleshoot their problems on their own only w/o any constructive and meaningful assistance. We need to assist them and nourish and help them because talent like these not going to come very often and if we don't learn on how to nurture them now and our future talents, we will never improve.

Probably Ash's last showdown before he goes down the drain!

I have a feeling. Ash will survive by making a 100 in next test. I saw it b 4. Whenever it comes to get rid of ashraful, he scores something to remain in the team and do nothing for next 10 tests

Looks like he was asked a question and he had to reply.

We all say the same thing, don't we ? Except a few of course. He is not the best in that position, but we don't have anyone to replce him. If we had replcements, we needed to probably change more than half of the team on the same ground of Ash. We hardly have any consistant performer.
