Naeem Islam included in Test Squad


Naeem Islam has been included in the Bangladesh Squad for the second Test match against India starting tomorrow at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.

BANGLADESH SQUAD FOR THE 2ND TEST:

Shakib Al Hasan (Captain), Mushfiqur Rahim (Vice Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Shahriar Nafees, Mohammad Ashraful, Roqibul Hassan, Mahmud Ullah, Shahadat Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Rubel Hossain, Zunaed Siddique, Enamul Haque Jr., Mahbubul Alam, Naeem Islam.

I guessed as much. I think MH Rubel first suggested that his withdrawal from a 1st class game could mean a recall to the test side.

Where dod you think he'll bat? I think there's a good chance he will come in for nafees or ash...

If he plays then who will get dropped? I thought JS said Ash and SN stays? So I'm assuming it would be one from Rubel or Shafiul or possibly Raqibul. I don't think dropping Imrul would bring much benefit as whoever gets shifted at the top wouldn't be able to handle the new ball.

Nayeem should be added purely as a batsman. His bowling, I am afraid is quite below test standards. But hey, he did get 3 wickets against India in the last ODI, so who knows?

I can't imagine him being an opener! He is ok at number 6 but not an opener - this is a mistake unless Sidon changes the line up. IMO - Mushfik to open, Nayeem to take Mushfik's place but it will not happen.

Only the disturbing fact in the line up is, selectors are not getting rid of the idea of Enam jr. as the second best spinner, when we have spinners like Saqlain Sajib and Suhrawardy who are doing so good at NCl and has a great potential at international level. Enam jr is just ordinary against G8.

There is a big gap between our NCL and international level, so lets not screw up another young players career by debuting them against the number 1 side in the world. Nayeem is a middle order batsman who I don't know if dropping IK or SN will make that much of a difference, since Ash isn't getting dropped the only other person we can drop is Rakib, but i think he should get at least another shot. according to cricinfo we are most likely to go with the same squad.

Junaid - strong front foot and top hand player, weaker vs spin, opener exp, EQUALS opener

mushy- back foot player, never playd opener, high backlift, strong vs spin EQUALS opener

Naeem is coming in for Rubel as BD is opting to field two pacers instead of three . The two pacers are Shafiul and Rajib.

NCL EQUALS international stage

Show me records of any of domestic spinners, having wonderful figures in international first class tours, then you can talk about bringing other spinners in.
