Default Highest ODI Wicket Taker for the year 2010: Shakib

Congrats Shakib. The table is from a Dailystar report.
http://www.thedailystar.net/newDesig...php?nid=167597

However this report has a glaring mistake in the first paragraph.
Quote:
All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan finished on top of the one-day international wicket-takers chart with his 46 scalps. The left-arm spinner became the first Bangladeshi to complete the feat after yet another productive year.
The reporter must be new to cricket. because in 2006:
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...ling;view=year
Murtaza already took the feat.

Sakib at the top, not surprising.
We should get used to with it.

But 3 top wicket takers of 2010 are Bangladeshis, thats new.
Congrats to all of them.

They played many more matches than the others. WPM would be a better stat for such appreciation. Hope these guys can get the highest wickets in world cup.

So what they played more matches ?
Since when that became a crime ??

Dont do a S Rajesh there buddy.
They were good enough to get all those wickets, simple as that.
If they werent, doesnt matter how many matches they would have played, it would still make no difference.

And the paper has.

Quote:
In our Sunday's report titled 'Shakib top ODI wicket-taker', it was written that the left-arm spinner became the first Bangladeshi to complete the feat.
In fact, paceman Mashrafe Bin Mortaza had earlier done it in 2006 with his 49 wickets

Harris and Broad will be out for a while with injuries, doubtful that they will play in the world cup.

Because, Wicket Per Match is a better way of judging performances. No crime, yet you can celebrate and enjoy the achievement, no worries,

To be fair though, Shakib has bowled in some batsmen friendly tourneys (Asia Cup and to an extend England tour).
