We are talking about bowling but I think it's equally important how we bat against spinners. Looks like WI already learnt the SC trick and started to open with spinners......................can Tamim repeat Swann?

Open with the pacers. Although Gayle is deadly against pace bowling, Shafiul's bowling has enough variations to induce mistakes. After about five overs, introduce spin on Gayle's end. Get him quickly.

Our batsmen should not have too much trouble playing the spinners. We grow up playing them! No premeditated shots please.

I agree with you when we go into middle overs, we are perhaps used to spin. I am more concern about the opening overs for our openers. In any cost, we need Tamim to fly....

ইংল্যান্ড-আয়ারল্যান্ড ম্যাচটা দেখেছেন নিশ্চয়ই। কী দুর্দান্ত একটা ম্যাচই না হলো! বড় দল ছোট দল বলে এত কথা বলার কিছু নেই, যারা ভালো খেলবে তারাই জিতবে। এই ম্যাচ আমাদের আরও একটা শিক্ষা দিল —বিশ্বকাপে কোনো রানই নিরাপদ নয়। কোনো দলই উপেক্ষার নয়। আমার ধারণা, সবাই এই বিশ্বাস নিয়েই বিশ্বকাপে খেলতে এসেছে।
একই বিশ্বাস আমাদেরও আছে। নিজেদের দিনে আমাদের কাছেও কোনো দল অজেয় নয়। ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের ব্যাপারেও একই কথা বলব। বাংলাদেশের কোয়ার্টার ফাইনালে যাওয়ার জন্য এই ম্যাচটা খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। এখন পর্যন্ত দুই ম্যাচ খেলে আমরা একটাতে জিতেছি। ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে জিতলে আমরা কোয়ার্টার ফাইনালের পথে অনেক দূর এগিয়ে যাব।
দল হিসেবে ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ খুবই ভালো। দলে এমন কিছু খেলোয়াড় আছে যারা একাই খেলার রং বদলে দিতে পারে। ক্রিস গেইল, কাইরন পোলার্ডের কথা আলাদা করেই বলব। এ ছাড়া শিবনারায়ণ চন্দরপল, সারওয়ান অভিজ্ঞ ক্রিকেটার। লারার মতো ব্যাটিং স্টাইলের ড্যারেন ব্রাভোও ম্যাচ ঘুরিয়ে দিতে পারে। কাজেই গেইল-পোলার্ডকে বাদ দিয়েও ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের ব্যাটিং লাইনআপ কম শক্তিশালী নয়।
ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বোলিং আক্রমণের কথা বললে কেমার রোচের কথাই আগে আসে। রোচ খুবই ভালো বল করছে বিশ্বকাপে। আগের ম্যাচে সে হ্যাটট্রিক করেছে। বাংলাদেশের বিপক্ষেও নিশ্চয়ই ভালো কিছু করতে চাইবে সে। তবে একটা কথা বলে রাখি। গেইল-পোলার্ড-রোচ যার কথাই বলুন, আমরা কিন্তু কাউকে নিয়েই আলাদা করে ভাবছি না। হ্যাঁ, ওরা ম্যাচ ঘুরিয়ে দিতে পারে, তবে আমাদের চোখ সবার ওপর। পরিকল্পনা পুরো ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ দলকে নিয়েই করেছি আমরা, গেইল বা রোচকে নিয়ে নয়।
অন্য বিদেশি দলগুলোর সঙ্গে ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের একটা পার্থক্য হলো, তাদের কাছে আমাদের কন্ডিশন খুব বেশি অচেনা নয়। উপমহাদেশে খেলার অভিজ্ঞতা ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের অনেক খেলোয়াড়েরই আছে, অনেকেই আইপিএলে খেলেছে। কাজেই এই কন্ডিশন তাদের মোটামুটি চেনা। তবে আমার বিশ্বাস, এই ম্যাচেও দর্শকদের সমর্থনটা আমাদের বড় শক্তি হবে। ম্যাচে এমন কিছু মুহূর্ত আসে, যখন দর্শকেরাই আমাদের এগিয়ে দেয়। আমরা তাই আশা করছি, বাংলাদেশের দর্শক চাপ হবে ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের জন্যও।
উইকেট-টস এসব নিয়ে খুব কথা হচ্ছে। আমি কিন্তু এই দুটির কোনোটি নিয়েই খুব চিন্তিত নই। কারণ এর কোনোটাই আমার হাতে নেই। উইকেট যেটা পাব ওটাতেই খেলতে হবে। আর এমন তো না যে উইকেট আমাদের জন্য এক রকম হবে, ওদের জন্য আরেক রকম। দুই দলই যখন একই উইকেটে খেলবে, এ নিয়ে অভিযোগ করার কিছু নেই। টসের ব্যাপারেও একই কথা। বলতে পারেন আমার কাছে টস ব্যাপারটারই কোনো গুরুত্ব নেই। আবার ভাববেন না আমার টস-ভাগ্য ভালো না বলে এটা বলছি। আসলে তা নয়, বিশ্বকাপের দুই ম্যাচেই তো আমি টস জিতলাম! তার পরও টস নিয়ে ভাবছি না, কারণ টসে হার-জিতটা আমার হাতে নেই।
ম্যাচ জয়ের জন্য ভাগ্য-টাগ্যের চেয়ে নিজেদের সামর্থ্যের ওপরই বেশি জোর দিতে হবে।্রএখনো অনেক জায়গায় উন্নতি করার আছে আমাদের। বিশেষ করে ব্যাটিংয়ে। গত দুই ম্যাচে আমাদের কোনো ব্যাটসম্যান বড় ইনিংস খেলেনি। টপ-অর্ডার বা যেখানেই যে সেট হবে, তার দায়িত্ব থাকবে বড় ইনিংস খেলার। তবে পাওয়ার প্লের ব্যাটিং নিয়ে বেশি চিন্তা করছি না। বিশ্বকাপে খুব কম দলই পাওয়ার প্লেতে ভালো করছে। অনেক সময় বরং উল্টোটা হয়—দ্রুত রান তুলতে গিয়ে উইকেট হারিয়ে ফেলে দলগুলো। ব্যাটিং পাওয়ার প্লের সময় রান তোলার সঙ্গে তাই উইকেট না হারানোর দিকেও নজর দেব আমরা। আমাদের বোলিং গত ম্যাচে ভালো হয়েছে। বিশেষ করে পেস বোলিং...। স্পিনারদের মধ্যে আমাকে এবং রাজ ভাইকে (আবদুর রাজ্জাক) আরও অনেক ভালো বল করতে হবে। তবে দলের সবার প্রতিই আমার একটা কথা—কারও কাছেই বাড়তি কিছু চাই না। যার যেটুকু সামর্থ্য সে অনুযায়ী খেলুক সবাই।
এই ম্যাচের আগে দুটি জিনিস আমাদের পক্ষে আছে। প্রথমত, ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ বাংলাদেশে এল আট বছর পর। একটু নতুন তো তাদের কাছে লাগবেই সবকিছু। দ্বিতীয়ত, দুই দলের সর্বশেষ লড়াইয়ে জয়ী দলটার নাম বাংলাদেশ। হোক বিশ্বকাপ-ভিন্ন একটা টুর্নামেন্ট, এখানে আমাদের আত্মবিশ্বাসই বেশি থাকার কথা। তবে ড্যারেন স্যামির এই দলটা ২০০৯-এর ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ দল নয়, সেটা আমরা জানি। ওই দলে অনেক অনভিজ্ঞ খেলোয়াড় ছিল। আর এই দলটির অভিজ্ঞতা অনেক বেশি।
