CTG and Dhaka has more than enough players
sounds like a group of mediocre players. Lets be realistic, If Tait doesnt play for CK, what are the possible combo for the 5 foreign players?

Bopara, Nazir, Ten, Bravo and a pacer from Riaz/Cooper. Other than Bravo.... the list doesnt look like a consistent one.

Mediocre? Bravo is a superb T20 allrounder, tendoeschate is a great batsman to have on your side. Guys like cooper, nazir, oram are great in t20s as well. Not a side to laugh at by any means. Can match DG easily. Not to mention, we have marshal ayub, taskin ahmed, riad, arafat, rubel, enamul, easily one of the strongest team in the competition

i think bpl could have increased the quota for local players from 10. the more local players get in touch with the intl players is better. they need to select 6 players out of 10 so this would give them more freedom if any local players fail. they could have cut down the max no of intl players to 8. i am pretty sure if they were allowed to have more local players many teams would have done that. feeling pretty sorry because some decent players didn't get the chance just for that.

i disagree, teams like rangpur, khulna, sylhet dont even 8/9 local players so dont think increasing the limit would have helped. Blame the franchises for not picking decent players

Interesting.. Jersey names usually bears the last names; For local players the Chittagong Team is using either using their first names or nick names.. goes on to say, how much idea they have even about gettting the jerseys right!!

The Aftab Ahmed (LOL) interview from the Chittagong Kings Media:

Quote:
Dhaka, Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Media Release
Chittagong Kings batsman Aftab Ahmed quotes and the photos of the training session on Tuesday.

Aftab Ahmed

Q: How are you doing?

Mashallah, by the grace of Almighty Allah, I am doing fine.

Q How are you feeling about representing your home city?

I am very elated with the fact that I will represent Chittagong, my home city. It is an additional source of happiness for me.

Q: Have you set yourself any personal targets?

I have to target a place in the playing 11, this is my first objective. If I can make it then I have a plan which I want to execute. Inshallah, I want to do something different. I was a bit shaky in the last BPL but then I thought of shrugging away the shakiness and playing with freedom. I have to do something different otherwise I have no chance of cementing my place.

Q: What is your expectation from the BPL?

I only got one opportunity last time with Dhaka Gladiators and I did not make full use of it. As I said, I was shaky and thought about things too much. This hampered my progress. But this time, I am not putting any thoughts in my head. If I get one game, then so be it. I will only enjoy myself.

Q: Do you enjoy Twenty20 cricket?

Obviously, short time, less hard work involved. I am enjoying it.

Q: Do you think laziness was responsible for your downfall?

Definitely, there’s no point denying it. Laziness has got the better of me. Even though I try very hard to overcome laziness even then I have a tough time succeeding. This is the truth, no point lying. I feel bad sometimes. When I was an established member of the national team, I saw several players making their debut. The same players are now far ahead of me in the pecking order and I am a bit detached from everyone else. So yeah, it is normal for me to feel bad.

Q How long do you want to continue playing?

I have not set any time frame. I have not decided anything. Of course, you will get to know about it first.

Q: Do you regret not to take your career a bit further?

Of course I have regrets. I mentioned the laziness factor already and how it got the better of me. I am not thinking about the national team at all. Many younger players are ahead of me. They are earning a lot of money. I am upset because I lost my focus. Of course, I am to be blamed for my downfall.

Q: Are you considering of making an effort for a comeback in t the national team?

I have no plans, as far as making it to the national team is concerned. Whether it is one or two years, I want to enjoy myself before going out from the game. Recently, I scored two fifties in the national league so I want to bow out properly from the domestic circuit before anything else.

Q: You wants to make a place in the domestic set up?

Honestly, I am far away from the national team at the moment. Now, there are many players around who are waiting in the wings. My primary concern should be the domestic scene. If I say I want to play for the national team now then I would be wrong. It would be unwise for me to think about the national team. I am living in the present and I want to do well. Everything else will take care of itself.

Then again, gotta respect him for being honest about his failures. Unlike you know who.
