You Frenchies make anything sound good. All you had was a ham and cheese sandwich. Ok, the Bechamel sauce on top is a nice addition. I like Bechamel.

I cooked myself a L'Omelette Parmentier with cheese along with sautéed potatoes, chicken franks and green olives!

I've cooked after 3-4 months, very basic food but feels good!

Couldn't do brunch today so made myself a late lunch:

Lamb sausage pilaf seasoned with fish sauce and cured green peppercorn, and garnished with cilantro. Side of Haydai, and grilled tomato salad with sea salt and Turkish paprika in a mustard oil and lemon dressing.

Skipping dinner but will have a slice of white chocolate coconut cake with dulce de leche at 8 before the Shakib show tonight.

PS: I thought rui mach is the best but looks like Mrigel is a better bharshon of rui-katla.

^Mrigel is indeed a great fish when caught, killed, seasoned and cooked fresh. I'm not too keen on the dead and refrigerated stuff when it comes to deshi machh.

Try it as a Goa-style fish curry over steamed Jasmine or Kataribhog rice ... heaven!

Anyway, tomorrow's Friday and I'm looking forward to having lunch at Niraub in the OD, the best place for classic Bangali bhaurta-bhaji-jhol. Taste Nazimuddin roadside Bakorkhani fresh from the oven with room temperature Camembert after lunch. Too bad there's no perfectly chilled Napa Chardonnay to make it perfect but it still does the soul good.

Yesterday, I cooked Southern Style Chicken and Dumplings. It was yummy, even if I have to say it myself. It was done right - with just mirepoix, salt, peppercorns, garlic, ginger, and bay leaves (all fresh, and no extraneous packaged flavor enhancers). My Southern heritage is showing. Get out of the way, Paula Deen.

Those are great when done right and it sound like it was! My sister-in-law Cheryl is from Georgia and is an exceptional cook from a family of exceptional cooks. Which explains why Saanyaan has begun to make me look thin nowadays. She also does a great deep fried whole turkey for Thanksgivin'.

After I posted the news about my mom's sickness, one of my apa and her family was kind enough to drop by some biryani and wealth of food. (Plus had another homemade doi from before...)

This cultural values (something Sohel mentioned) is really what makes me teary eyed and appreciative. We may be poorest nation but still you cannot take our humanity.

An all English breakfast (half fried egg, baked beans, bacon strips, sausages, mashed potatoes) and chocolate chip cookie pancakes along with chocolate milkshake for brunch.

Had business lunch at the Mermaid Cafe (G2, Dhaka) yesterday. Exceptionally fresh prawns, crab, mussels and squid with generous portions and great service. Great blended, slushy-type juices. Interesting Fisherman's Wharf eatery type ambiance. VERY poorly seasoned, but wonderfully fresh fish not worth the price tag. They need a chef with abilities beyond just cooking classic shellfish appetizers.

I'd say stay away from the fish but splurge on the shellfish. The honey Prawn with soy and ginger is amazing. As good as what you get in San Francisco, LA, Taipei, Shanghai, Hue and Phuket! Ignore the khyat resort promotion on the table.

i used to work at subway tooo. it was the best job i ever had. so much fun.
