India was kinda the whipping boy of world cricket (outside India) around the '80s. Come to think of it, they still are (again, must say, outside India). It must also be mentioned that Imran, Botham and Kapil enjoyed much better support both in Batting and Bowling. Furthermore, none of them was the top Bat and Bowl for their respective team.

It would be stupid to say Shakib is as good as the great Botham or Imran Khan. The comparison itself is absurd. But one must admit Shakib's case to be a peer to them gets stronger by the day. May be someday....

Replay shows the ball would have hit the off-stump...now bow down before Bowden.

Let me remind you Zim are a Test side just as India. Isnt it all that should matter?

Congrats Moyna! Youre with the legends!

It would be the perfect match now if Mushy starts one sentence without 'Yeah obviously'

I agree with your comment about India. But, I dont think it is stupid to say Shakib is as good as Imran and Botham. Infact, if he keeps fit and stay hungry he will surpass them easily...at least, in stats.

You lead the team so very well--

Says Shamim to Mushy.

It's like blind leading the blind.

Allhamdullilah we won! BD needed this win even if it is against Zimbabwe, who have put up a good performance so far.

I generally refrain from comparing players from different era. As I said, it is absurd, all the variables are different. However, after Shakib is done with cricket, he will hopefully be included in the list elite all-rounders.

Don't want to compare eras so it will be safe to say that he is the best allrounder of the current era by a country mile.

However we all secretly agree in our hearts that Shakib is the best all rounder that was ever born

Shakib should pass imran as a batsman, tougher to pass botham with the 14 tons and over 5000 runs, runs less of an issue than the number on tons. As far as batting shakib is 1,300 and a few more runs behind imran but only 2 half centuries less and 3 tons less. Bowling is more difficult, I mean for a spinner to get an average of 22/23 is ridiculous, though he's doing well in terms of things like 5fers

The only reason people will have hard time swallowing shakib a great is his country of origin.. Bangladesh tag... otherwise there is no question, just looking at achievements, stats, play.. he is and will indeed be one of the greatest cricket of all time.

Believe that.. becuase he already is.. take out the BD tag, put India, he would be worshipped now with millions of rupees in pocket.

Still far from perfect, but well done in this test match after a poor first test (despite the win). Nice to see two wins in a row this year though, and it's surely boosting the team's confidence.

Looking forward to the third test! Shamsur and Shahadat should be dropped. And maybe Jubair if there's a spin replacement.

Should bring in Marsall Ayub or Anamul for the next match. And shafiul could replace Shahadat but I would prefer a spinner.

In terms of pure ability and the illusive x-factor, there has never been another like Ian Botham. There's a reason England pine after him after so many years.

But all things considered Shakib has done exceptionally well. The fact that we are having a conversation in which Shakib is put in the same company as Sobers, Imran and Botham says all that needs to be said.

Imran was also an extraordinary leader, and Shakib...lol.
