Shakib has quite an x-factor to though...

yeah. Worst leader ever. Leading the team with bat and ball in every single freaking match doesn't mean anything. Right?

Totally agreed. If he were born in Austrailia, they would have put statues of him around the country. Not joking, they would sell their collective souls to get a spinner like Shakib who's also a legitimate middle order batsman. Just see how they clamour for anybody who can put some revv on the ball. Their constant infatuation with Watson proves that a true allrounder is worth his wait in Platinum in any team.

Imran was a great leader and he certainly gets point for that, but those points go towards being a good captain rather than a great all rounder which he was as well. Personally I seperate captaincy when comparing all rounders, when you compare batsmen or bowlers or wicket keepers you don't include their captaincy ability, the only time you do it is when it's close and you can't decide or when you're picking a team and need a leader.

Does this mean we will overtake Zimbabwe in test rankings regardless of what happens in the next test? When will the ranking the updated? And what is the cut off point which decides who would play Ireland? Does anyone know?

Yep, totally agreed. Hopefully that won't be too long. Just for the record: Shakib is in a class of his own but I don't like comparing any current players with players from different era (like Sachin vs Bradman, Lara vs Richards, Dravidvs Gower, Flintoff vs Botham, etc).

Lol. My point is that the reference or comparison is unnecessary and pointless. It's like saying Imran Khan did more for Pakistan than Jinnah and Tendulkar did more for India than Nehru. *shrug* just saying, you're entitled to your opinion obviously.

Agreed. But, we are talking about genuine allrounders. Not captain materials or he balls spin and the other was a fast bowler etc. Shakib can get you a fifer when he bowls and blast a ton when he bats. Just like Sobers, Imran, Botham, Kapil, Hadlee or Kallis did in the past. Thats all should matter. He has amply demonstrated that he has all the potential to get buckets load of Test wickets and banks breaking Test runs. Whether he goes on to do that remains to be seen. But, he is one mighty allrounder going right now. I dont think anyone even comes close to him. Shame that he has to play for a side who barely plays 4 Test matches per year!

this is the main problem. For shakib it's the opposite, his numbers/stats would improve if he played with all the other stronger teams and in more frequent. His true potential is being limited by being a Bangladeshi.

Despite this huge hurdle he has still done a lot with the little opportunities that he got. And then you have our own people trying to contain him which makes me so upset....

besides I think it's only this year he has been so incredibly good, let's see if Mathews can keep performing like this over a long period of time like Sakib.

you just forgot we were playing against Zim, although Zim fought well in their 1st innings but they don't have a Sanga or a Chondorpol or a Younus Khan.
so have faith
