Default Anil Kumble - India's New Head Coach

Let me congratulate Mr. Kumbley as India's new head coach. I think he will do a fantastic job to lead Indian cricket team.

I also hope he will help to build a new relationship with Bangladesh cricket with BCCI as Kumble posses a soft corner for Bangladesh cricket as far I remember.

All the best Kumble as India's new head coach

Not a good choice in my opinion. And this is a big slap on the face of Ravi Shashtri. I think the Indian team will regress under him.

I just don't see him as anything inspirational or a great tactician or a great coach in any regards. But that is my opinion.

All the best to Kumble and the Indian team.

Kumble is different from a lot of other cricketers in the sense he is quite educated and knowledgeable, having a Mechanical Engineering degree, and if i can recall he even programmed a computer cricket game in the early 90's.

A reason why the selection panel gave him a nudge despite not meeting the credentials is his planning. I think he presented a detailed plan for all formats of the team, and also proposed a strategy to improve overseas. India probably wants a well measured, well strategized path forward.

Come to think of it, the role of the coach of India will not be to teach skills. They ve also got a demanding and shrewd captain in form of Virat Kohli. So the job of a coach is automatically reduced, and perhaps more focused on planning, strategy. Kumble was also a gritty character, and one of the fiercest competitors the game has ever seen. So every chance he will pass on some of that to the players.

So all in all, this could be a very clever move for Indian cricket.

lol funny seeing Shastri throw a hissy fit

Man didn't even bother showing up for his interview in person, yet has the gall to criticize Ganguly

Shastri is a perhaps a great talker/mentor/advisor. But if India want the nitty gritty detailed work of Gary Kirsten, Kumble is their man.

Sourav Ganguly is a very smart man. He waited for the right time before he put his point on every unethical things about what Ravi Shastri did. He deserves a big hand of applause. Ravi is not a man we need for Indian Cricket team if we really want the community prosper.

Shashtri doesn't get sarcasm..he's trying at times to make himself look funny but fails 95% of the time. He should stick to the commentary and let trained professionals deal with the important stuff.

He is a planner and a person who probably look at every little detail.

Good combination. Kumble being the strategist and Kohli being the leader.

He and Kohli are a devastating combination. The strategist and the front line general.
