Your T20I Team against Sri Lanka, January 2018
Akram Khan indicated our international campaign next year will start with two T20I matches against Lanka, before the ODI Tri-Series. What will be your T20I team for the next month?
My team based on BPL performances so far:
Tamim
Liton (WK)
Anam
Shakib
Riyad
Sabbir
Arif
Saifuddin
Miraz
Rony
Fizz
Bench: Mithun, Rubel, Gazi
I will prefer Liton and Anam over Mithun based on SR. Soumya has been so poor in BPL, I don't see a place for him even on the bench.
Saifuddin is a risky choice, but Rubel, Taskin, Shafiul, AA, etc have not been reliable lately either.
Mosaddek and Gazi both have been effective economic bowlers for their respective teams. One of them should be picked based on the BPL final. One of them, in place of Miraz, gives the option to pick a specialist pacer in place of Saifuddin.
AJ Rahi, despite doing well for KT, will not make my team. I still suspect he will be taken to cleaners in international matches.

Why Nazmul Opu, instead of Maehdi Hasan. I found that hasan bowled relatively well. Fizz didn't really do anything spectacular in BPL.

^^ That's a good suggestion. With Shakib in charge, it would not make whole lot of sense to include another SLA in the squad. The alternate for Miraz should be another offie.
However, I would count Mahedi's inexperience against him. So, changed my pick to Gazi as a backup option.
As for Fizz, however his current form may be, still hard to imagine a Bangladesh team w/o him. IMO, he should be excused for returning from injury.

Unfortunately, we have a long way to go in T20s, but there team composition should be a lot different now.
Tamim
Liton (keeper)
Anamul
Shakib
Shabbir
Mahmudullah
Mosaddek
Saifuddin
Hider
Taskin
Fizz
This line-up is interesting. I know Taskin is expensive, but he can pick up those wickets, and that's something we need. Fizz on his day can do his job. Hider time has come now even though he does not get the same spotlight as the bowlers I have mentioned. His BPL record is good enough. He should be playing ODIs now too. Spin bowling if fine though you would also like to see a quality leg spinner for this format, but we don't have that sadly. To win T20 games, you need to be able to score the runs. This is what Bangladesh have been struggling with in this format. It's the approach more than anything else. I would like to see more running between the wickets as well as aggressive strokeplay. It's the best team we could possibly feel, but it's still average amongst all the sides that have T20 status. I'd take that because it's our weakest format.

^^ With his lack of fire power, I don't think Mosaddek can hold a place in the team as a batsman. Shakib is promoting him as a bowler for DD, but we have better options for the national team.
I would advise him to focus on ODI and Test.

I like Litton but don't think he should be in the XI.
Anamul should play though

Other than some late over bowling. Mossadek adds absolutely jack to the team. Take Saifuddin or Mithun Ali.

I thought Mithun Ali has performed better than Anamul in this bpl. In fact he seems to be very matured by the guidance of foreign batsmen in rangpur team as he is the only local batsman in top order

Tamim
Mominul
Mithun w/k
Shakib c
Ullah
Sabbir
Saifuddin
Mehedi
Hider
Taskin
Mustafizur
Bench: Abul, Anamul, Rubel, Gazi
Questionable picks - Mominul, I like his batting, might be bias, I would like to see him open for bd
Taskin - expensive, but can bounce back any time and is a game changer, Mustafizur is much better with Taskin creating a slip stream for him, maybe try Abul, will also extend batting
Mithun - he's better than mushfiq, he's out performed Das and anamul, experienced too and seems sensible
Mehedi, based on talent in team, not on performances

Saifuddin is just another hyped mediocre player, I'd rather pick Abul who is no bodna with the bat either.
our T20 team after making so many changes still looks pathetic.
The only player who really impressed me this BPL is Ariful.

Power hitters will relish the prospect of facing Saifuddin's pace. He will be a high risk option because he could easily get taskined at the death. I prefer the extra pace of Abul (cant believe i am saying these words)
Mushfiq is too good a batsman to leave out from our batting eventhough he has had a poor bpl

^^ Many of us want to leave out Mushfiq not because of one poor BPL only, but because he has been a poor T20I batsman throughout his career.

Average of 16.84 and SR of 113.12 throughout his t20 career is nowhere an indication of good batting. To make it worse, he has n 13.22 average and 105.30 SR in the last two years.
Clearly not suited for this format and players like Mithun, Anamul, Jahurul are waiting for a return.

Soumya prolly will survive based on his T20I stats this year. I do hope Nannu (ChV mentor) will give Anam a chance in place of Mushfiq.
Arif - I don't feel hopeful for. Bashar (KT mentor) will not put his neck out for a wildcard player. Won't be surprised to see Mosaddek getting the slot thanks to Shakib and Sujon.
Shakib and Sujon prolly will push for Rony to be on the squad at least.

Afif a better option than mosaddek if they want an off spinning allrounder for t20.
TBH there aren’t many who’ve pushed a solid case for the t20 team. That means either pick experience or pick on potential, both are risks. I mean you can go with a combination but my point is neither have made good enough cases to select with confidence.
