2018 BCL starts tomorrow

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday announced the schedule for the first three rounds of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), the country's second first class competition. The tournament will kick off on January 9 across four different venues.

The first round will see fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who was dropped from the national team for the first two ODIs of the upcoming tri-series, feature for Walton Central Zone in their opening game against defending champions BCB North Zone at the Sylhet International Cricket stadium.

Meanwhile opening batsman Soumya Sarkar, who was also left out of the Bangladesh ODI squad due to his recent slump in form, will look to return among the runs when his side, Prime Bank South Zone, take on Islami Bank East Zone on the opening day at BKSP.

The next two rounds, the first of which will be held at the same venues, are to take place on January 15 and January 21 respectively. There will be a change in venues for the third round though as the rest of the games will be played at the Sheikh Abu Nasir stadium in Khulna and Shahid Kamruzzaman stadium in Rajshahi.

The final three rounds will be held after a break for the Dhaka Premier League which is tentatively scheduled to begin on February 5.

I think Mosaddek might get picked for the last leg of the tri-series after some of the more odd selections like Nasir and Mithun fail (if they play). Then again, they likely won't play and hence won't get dropped either. In that case, Mosaddek will get 6 innings to score a ton of runs.

Mominul is guaranteed to get 6 innings. With most of the national team bowlers out (except Taijul), I want both of those guys to score 350-400 runs in these 6 innings.

Perhaps he is not fully fit for an FC match. It's also possible that he did not get leave from the Air Force for BCL. The tournament schedule was announced late, perhaps he could not leave his duty station in such a short notice.

However, he has been included in BCB XI in the practice match against Zimbabwe.

Yes, it feels good to see him doing well. Pipeline needs to be stronger. Every year a new player in domestics of top nations will score doubles/triples, I do not see new talents coming up consistently like that from our system.

Musa is batting. On 42 not out overnight. So hopefully the injury isn't too bad.

Mosaddek gets 110, his 8th first class century! Weakness against pace or not, this guy should replace Riyad in any conditions in Test matches. Riyad won't score more than 60 on any wicket anyways.
