Renaming .exe

I need to send a file to a friend of mine via e-mail. It is a .exe file. Since the size is around 42 MB, I want to use google's gmail to send it. However, gmail didn't allow me to send .exe or .zip files. So I was wondering if there is a way around it. Can I change the extension somehow so that my friend can receive it and change it back to .exe and open it?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Emailing such a large file would not be my first choice. I'd try to upload it to a server or something like yahoo briefcase and then give the receipient the required url or id/password. There are many other options available too. From top of my head, I'd suggest using any messenger (MSN, Yahoo or Netmeeting etc) for file transfer. You could also use a splitter program (master splitter) to splitt the file into many pieces of desired size. Each piece would be given an 001, 002, 003 etc extension. Also there would be a .bat file which, upon execution, will combine the pieces into the original. Try to locate the site for this splitter with google. Hope this helps.
