I visited kolkata once in my life and I hope it will be my last visit. The experience was horrible unfortunately. I heard good things about other cities in India though.
I can understand why they (some people in kolkata) are skeptical about anything good about Banglasdesh.

I thought the writer praised both ashraful and irfan pathan equally, what are you complaining about?

I read the whole article. They generously praised both Pathan and Ashraful, as well as shedding light on their backgrounds and how they came to spotlight. I agree with pagol-chagol's comment about them being faux (fox) type newspaper. But I'd think this article was well-written and there's nothing to complain about it.

The quality of Bangla in that Anandabazar article is MUCH better than any Bangladeshi news article. The reporter has very good command of using various techniques of writing: rich vocabulary, diction, use of metaphors, recurring themes, vivid comparative descriptions. Granted it reads a little awkward, but that's probably because I don't read that kind of Bangla a lot.

I agree with Arnab on the quality and with the majority - this was an evenly written article. One thing i found out about Ashraful that probably none of the bd papers reported - Ash is planning on making a new home. That shows the difference in reporting as well.

For cricket related stuff, Prothom Alo is the best for Bangla, Cricinfo for English.
End of the story.
That article wasn't bad, but since it's a match report, I wouldn't call it a good one.
