^^Our cricket team will never improve if we writing off players in their mid twenties (which unfortunately has been the trend with our fans/team management so far).

A lot of this falls on the players too though. If they had changed their games and become more effective then we wouldn't have to bring this up. Instead they continue to play the same way as if things will change when in reality it won't. Doesn't really matter too much about how old they are. Shamsur's still on the young side but he's not a young 19-20 year old kid. He's played for a while now.

Of course this also falls a lot on BCB as they too have failed the players by not putting a high quality FC league and having these players be prepared for the highest level.

Kopa Shamsu is a part of the "winning combination". His ability or form is irrelevant.

He's been dropped for the 3rd Test so he won't have a chance to be a part of the "winning combination"

A supreme talent like him needs rest. Now that we've won the series, we can risk resting him I reckon.

In my opinion Shamsur is paying for his stupidity in the 2nd Test against WI where in the second innings he was out caught hooking for 39 of 27 balls. In that innings he was hitting the ball sweetly; every boundary was timed well, no ka-edges but then he fell in to a trap and tried to hook another short ball, one that was a bit too high to control. It was a waste of good form. If he had better temperament then a hundred was there for the taking. If he had scored heavily then he would still be in the team now, but as it is he is paying for that innings. Form comes and goes so you have to make sure you take full advantage when you are in good nick.

He seems to be out of form. Doest looks like he can play test match. Maybe we can still give him chance in odi when he gets his form back.

He'd have a hard time cracking the team. Anamul's on his way to becoming a regular as an opener I'd take Mominul at 3 in ODIs any day over Shamsur. He could possibly make it as a backup but it'll be hard to see him making the XI.

Shamsur will have a tough time making the shorter format teams now, though I think he deserves to be in the test opening spot ahead of anamul as he's had some good test performances and looks like he can play at the level in the small amount of matches he's had, anamul hasn't had many test match chances but looked much less impressive and didn't get any scores, though he has more time on his side.

Gowza, with all due respect I (and pretty much everyone else in this forum) has for you, We have to agree to Disagree on this issue. Shamsur is completely out of sorts, He needs to go back and train harder and rectify his technical mistakes....

I would only keep Shamsur for T20...

No dramas respect, your suggestion isn't at all poor and certainly has some merit to it, I guess it comes down to the way we would each personally select a team, also different things work for different players and the more discussion and thoughts, opinions and ideas we have is great imo.

^^on top of that, he hasn't hit a single 50+ innings since February this year. His struggles with the bat is not just recently against Zimbabwe, but also in the West Indies tour, you can pinpoint his and Imrul's lack of contribution as a significant cause behind subpar results

Balancing problem. Head not aligned with the bat and obviously not with the ball. Thus got out with that inswinger. (last out)

Must correct the basics first. Unless exceptional hand-eye co-ordination which he hasn't at this level. May be can get by in the domestics.

What a waste of opportunity. This series could be stepping stone for his career, but it turned out to be a career killer series for him so far. From now on it will very hard for him to come back in test in future.

Will he get chance in ODI? I doubt it. I am afraid this TEST performance may have impacted negatively for all the format for him.

Did he take it easy like Nasir after getting into the team? He had good performances at the start of his career and Zimbabwe is a good team to score some runs against. What really happened to him?
