Kalaroa Government College established in 1969. In the Kalaroa Upazila of Satkhira District.

Hmm... Korolla and Khira - something is going on here.

An interestingly named primary school here is:

Murarikati Taraknandi Primary School established in 1881!!

Now the 64 paisa question is, how do I know?

seems like another form of classical rivalry (desi version)is on the making.. we have seen enough of these type of warfare like, bangladeshi Vs bangali,Mujib Vs Zia,bnp Vs awami league, jamat Vs Tabligue, Abahani Vs Mohameddan .. and now DC Vs NDC in this forum .

just wondering what make us this psychosis & always creating the rivalry between two good thing/stuff.

Cant we admit that DC & NDC are the two best colleges in our country where every conscious guardians like to send their young prodigies.

Don't send young prodigies to Dhaka college (speaking from MY experience at DC of course). Like Rafiq bhai said, it would be a waste of time. Unless he is a Rabindranath or Nazrul or the Bengali version of Linus Torvalds of course.

I am exempt, because to me the "discipline" of NDC is dalbhat. Before SSC, I went to a school for eight years that grooms its students with NDC style discipline. And that is exactly why I went to DC, practically a non-institution. It was actually an interesting experience to go from the most strictest of schools to a college with TOTAL lack of discipline.

There simply cannot be any contest. Dhaka college always had the best and the brightes of all of Bangladesh and they did well in their board exams, the school itself had very little to do with that. Notre Dame takes in from all walks and grooms them for life. As far as institution is concerned Notre Dame is in a league Dhaka College can only hope to be.

My vote: Absolutely, Irrevocably Blue & Gold. Go Notre Dame.

Right not Notre Dame is undisputed champion if you consider last 5/6 years result.

Not only the past 5/6 years. You can go back as far as possible. Notre dame always had a different philosophy. Where Dhaka College prepares students for the 'all important' board exam (HSC), Notre Dame prepared them for life.

The success in past few years is due to the change in format in the exams which suites NDC style of education.

well said. how about BUET and non-BUET. Now, I donot want to start that but I know in some places its pretty hot.
Some people also interpret this as BD graduate and non BD graduate.

These rivalries are quite pointless and lame IMO. Regarding BUET vs. non-BUET - it is not even a meaningful comparison unless it is specified as being between engineering graduates of various schools. Otherwise how is it possible to compare a DU or DMC (say) graduate with a BUET graduate? What is the basis of comparison?

First misread Taraknandi as Tarakandi... have heard about a thana in Sirajganj in that name.. in another thread, found your origin to be in Sirajganj.. almost made a two and two four. But it stopped right before the rope, as I de-misread... then did a googly... ta-dah: banglapedia.

ATMR: oops! missed your post. Anyway, I was honest in my claim. So what about a 1/3-2/3 share on the 64p?

That reminds me of what happened oneday when me and my brother were playing cricket on the roof with a tennis ball, in Dhaka. In spite of dozens of rules against lofty shots, my brother kept sending the balls over the parapet. Sure enough, one ball was destined to the middle of the adjacent pond. These kids happened to pass by when we offered them an opportunity to earn some money. A clever one put forward a bargain: "Unber paari, kintu ball-da ami nimu".

here's the opinion of a guy who went to neither (niropekkho). from what i have seen of notre damians and dhaka college students, and from what i know about the quality of teachers and education, i'd cast my vote for notre dame. they're way ahead in terms of discipline and their teachers are more dedicated (so are the students).

Wow! How did I not come across this thread before??

Dhaka college rocks! (as long as you pass HSC).

Notre Dame should not even be called a college. It should be called Notre Dame Biddya Niketon or Notre Dame School for the School Boys, or Notre Dame Adorsho Pathshala. (Bracing myself for the backlash now :P)

Btw, Rokeya Madam was that snow white chick, right? - Salahuddin'er shali?

Also, does anyone remember "Madam Bracket Den Nai" from Shamim Azad's class?

The Gift of the Magi is written by O. Henry not by W. Somerset Maughm.

By the way, I am from Notre Dame and I believe we are still the best.
