7:22 PM Confirming that the par score after 14 overs is 120 so if play does not resume by 7.36pm Bangladesh will win by around 60 runs. It is still raining, lightly and overs are being deducted for every four minutes lost so already we have lost three of the remaining six overs

7:30 PM Another disappointing effort by the home batsmen or was it another good performance by the Bangladesh bowlers? Either way, Ireland have been given a sample of what they can expect in the T20 internationals at Stormont on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
7:28 PM And just had confirmation that the game is over. The captains have shaken hands and just waiting final confirmation of the result but it is another convincing win for Bangladesh
Ok happy now?

Result

Bangladesh beat NCU Select by 48 runs
7:33 PM We will, of course, be bringing you ball by ball commentary on all three games, the first on Wednesday starts at 5pm, do join me from Stormont then. For now, from Comber, this is Ian Callender saying goodnight

7:30 PM Another disappointing effort by the home batsmen or was it another good performance by the Bangladesh bowlers? Either way, Ireland have been given a sample of what they can expect in the T20 internationals at Stormont on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

7:13 PM Umpires have stayed in the middle and the worst of the rain appears to hve missed us, though it is still very dark

7:12 PM And the covers have been called in, we will have a break for rain

A Poynter c Mahmudullah b Ziaur Rahman 3 (8 balls, 0x4, 0x6) SR: 37.50
Partnership of 17 in 17 balls
NCU President's XI 61-5 in 13.2 overs

I think the key takeaway from this match is:

1. Ashraful has become the Javed Omar Belim Golla of 2012; However, Ashraful still had a SR of 100+. Hence opening pair stays same with Tamim Ashraful
2. Riad, Mushfique can now bat T20 style and they will play the middle order role. You can't rely on Nasir much as a middle order batsman
3. Zia, Zunaed can also hit hard at slog overs if needed. I think Zia probably will make the playing XI. However, I think we should look past Shafiul and think of Nazmul/Abul instead
4. Abul or Nazmul or Shafiul,, there can be debate on who is in the playing XI but Mashrafee is set to open the bowling
5. At the end, even on bouncy pitch, I think its still going to be the spinners who will play the major role for us, Elias, Razzaque, Shakib, Riad are going to be the core strength along with Mashrafee.

Practice match opened up a few quesitons. Do we persist with Shafiul or bring in Stepson. I would pick Nazmul any day over Shafi. Another question is whether to stick with Nasir in the middle order for T-20 or bring in Junaid who seems to time the ball from ball one. Not sure about that decision.
