Default BPL 2: Whats the verdict?

This is more of a Bangladesh cricket topic so opened the thread here. A lot of controversy this year. Payment issues, no NOCs from PAK players, etc. But it seems like fan interest was pretty good and the attendence was not bad...picked up as the season went along.

So what are the positives from BPL 2? Negatives? Was it overall better than BPL 1? Will there be a BPL 3?

Quite happy with the way young players got their chances UNLIKE last year. And they have proved that they can perform if given a chance

My wish for BPL3 would be is that BCB should make compulsory for every team to have minimum of 2 U20 players...

wanted to open a thread like this.
Anyway, from a cricketing point de vue BPL 2 has been a real success.
I personally think Pak players not playing was a blessing in disguise.
The national & local players were very impressive, the foreign players made it more interesting.
It was hard to tell who would be runners up till the very end.
BPL2>>BPL1>>thak bollam na
But I echo with Jolonto bhai, it wasn't oil organized, and wasn't as Jakjhomok as BPL1

The success of BPL2 was critical for different reasons. And I have to say that BPL survived the critical test.

Some people may complain about the quality of foreign players in BPL2. but for me, it served it purpose better than BPL1.

Quite a few local players shined.

8 out of 10 from me. Should have been 10/10 but BCB/BPL must sort out the payment issue.

But payment issue has been very quiet the last week or so. Some high profile names like Gayle, Dilshan, Chanders came. Must have been sorted out for the time being, right?

over all its a good one specially for local player part from payment issue. Our home grown show what they can do. Now we have more competition for national team, which means our national team will be stronger.

I would like to see a more competitive league with close finishes. I hate to see Taka Gladiators just bulldoze their way past everyone. Next year I want to see a competitive final.

Need to get the payment issues sorted and keep affordable ticket prices from the start. I would cut Khulna from the roadshow and host more matches in Chittagong.

Get better quality commentators next time. I would prefer those who speak English as their 1st language. Brian Murgatroyd was a great addition. Arun Lal and Aqeel were pure crap and actually ruined the experience of watching the matches.

Taka Gladiators. Hahaha. Angur fool talk (fools also talk).

Given how it started it ended quite well. Now pay everyone without delay so we can have BPL3.

Taka Gladiators

Yeah I liked it much better since domestic players performed unlike last year.I would say Pakistan backing out is a blessing in disguise. Hopefully it'll be better organized next year and other teams get better players to even it out a bit.

Honestly, I don't see them fixing that. This is B[angladesh]PL...If it ain't broke...

I'll bet if they dangle enough money, Gayle and co will be happy to get their checks the day before BPL 3 starts and show up regardless of what FICA says. I'm sure they expect to not get paid until BPL begs them to come back. Sad but true. I just hope Jamaat doesn't Pakistanify our security situation because its hard enough to get anyone to tour us as is.

Liked it but would have enjoyed more if the rongpur and khulna team weren't so cheap in getting good foreign players. The lack of crowd in khulna, imo, was a direct result of having such a crap team. The only reason khulna were able to compete was because of an exceptional performance by Nafees which nobody saw coming besides abirz. BPL 3 must think about how to make all the teams competitive. If people are worried about money then they shouldn't be dreaming of owning the franchises.

Was good. But the commentators and payment issues screwed things up a bit.

Well, enjoyed BPL2 more than BPL1.

Quality of cricket was better than the previous edition. I think it would have been a lot better had a franchise been dissolved instead of a new one being added. 7 franchises is way too much for a country like Bangladesh. But, I get it! It's all about the $$$..

So for me, in addition to BPL3 having 5-6 franchises, I would like to see some sort of decentralization. Enough with Dhaka being the center of everything.

And please, no opening ceremony and all that cr@p.

This PL is actually watchable, despite relative low quality. At least I can relate the team names here as a Bangladeshi cricket fan. IMO icon player rule in BPL1 was better. I guess due to our motu Iqbal, it was changed and messed up this whole league. Still IMO cheering DG for Shakib is better than cheering KKR. I dont have any problem with DG dominance thru money & star power, but It seems that despite high success, locals only gathered in full number at final only in stadium to support DG. I like to see BPL3 happening in full house 5K stadiums than 300-500 peeps in a 25K capacity stadiums.

Could Have Been Better: IF

1. BCB wouldn't depend on Pak Players and had more focus on other nations, prior to auction
2. Had the Payments been silently made on time
3. Pre tournament marketing efforts to get the spectator. Pak players didn't come, it had nothing to do with them, not having even a proper ticket selling mechanism in place. Shocking organizing effort.

BPL 3 would much better if those are taken care of ...

# Lack of competitive games.
# Lack of quality players.
# Poor team selection.
# Poor management overall.
# poor broadcasting quality.
# Poor media presentation & staff.

Except the payment issues and some unprofessionalism BPL2 was a huge success. Well, it has converted me to T20 kirket.

Local talents were simply outstanding. I knew that non-participation of Pak players would be a blessing in disguise. And thats how it exactly panned out. We got Shabbir, Taskin, Shamsur, Naeem Jnr, Taijul, Mukhtar, Ariful Haque (can bowl, also) to name a few notable ones. Rangpur Riders were my favourite. They had more local exciting youngsters.

BPL3 should have no more than 3 QUALITY foreign international players in the playing eleven. Each team could register 4/5 bideshi players. Sylhet should be one of the new venues. Khulna needs to get their acts together.

Get quality commentators. Get rid off The "cricket expert" Shamim alias Shamcha. He simply doesn`t have the foggiest. Arun can stay...he is actually not such a bad comm. Ata needs to speak less and as someone had pointed out he should be reminded that he doesn´t get paid by per word. I actually like Ata for his positive bias and enthusiasm for the deshi players. Brian is a very good addition. Sheena could stay -inshaallah

Also better coaches and staff. And a better quality of broadcasting is a must.

One huge pro has to be that A LOT OF LOCAL PLAYERS stepped up and showed us that they can compete with the big boys espacialy after pakistan banned their own players, this opened the door for a lot of local players and they did prove a point!

Some cons :
- not having enough SUPERSTAR INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS
- still there were some money issues
- commentators SUCKED BALLS!
-This might be just me but the CAMERA/COLOR quality sucked (compare that with the IPL/BBL)

but overall the tournament was fine and SHAKIB WOOT WOOT!!!
