What was Shakib doing?
With three quick wickets lost and three overs to stumps:
58.1
Sandakan to Shakib Al Hasan, 3 runs, he's a brave man. Goes back deep into the crease and plays a late cut literally off the keeper's gloves. Don't think he picked the googly. Good work by Dhananjaya, haring back to pull it back in
58.6
Sandakan to Shakib Al Hasan, FOUR, dropped! Would you believe it? He's fetched the slog from outside off. Hit firmly off the middle but straight to Tharanga. The ball bursts through his hands and into the boundary. What is happening? Are Bangladesh hell bent on committing hara-kiri here?
59.3
Lakmal to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, nearly chopped on. The ball reversed away from length, he played from the crease to a delivery he should have been forward
59.4
Lakmal to Shakib Al Hasan, 2 runs, gets away with another poor stroke. Fetches a pull from way outside off, top-edges it towards deep square, where Chandimal, coming in, lands on his shoulder. Oh, dear. So much drama. He's holding his left shoulder. But coming back to the shot, how poor can it get from one of the best batsmen in the team?
CI: Shakib is visibly fuming here. Don't think he was too keen on a nightwatchman coming in ahead of him.
Was he deliberately trying to sabotage the innings because he didn't like a team management decision or because something happened in the dressing room? If so he has to face disciplinary action. Can't believe this guy has fans. Worst team player.

You can't drop him. He will end up scoring enough runs, and you will see his fans like oh yeah that's how he plays and he gets the runs.. so what? It's the approach. You can clearly tell he doesn't give a F about match situation and what Bangladesh requires. It's all about Shakib Al Hasan brand.

We already have a rookie side out there. 6 guys with less than 20 caps combined. Sabbir is not a #4 yet he's batting there.
We see the result of dropping Mominul...192-2 to 200-5.
Shakib would have been out to Sandakan had he tried to defend. He needs to play an attacking innings and let Mushfiq, Musa, and Mehedi hold the innings together.
We have 3 genuine #11s in the squad with Taijul, Shubashish and Mustafiz.

Disgusting attitude from Shakib. It's an embarrassment to BD cricket, BD fans, anyone related associated with BD in general. Absolute ignorant person this dude. Soon BCB gets rid of him the better. Just keep him around for T20s, maybe ODI.
Now his fans will come and tell how he is the best successful this and that. Look back at his career, his 200 odd, he probs had 2-4 lives. He has declined as a test bowler (perhaps too much overdoes of t20s). He isn't the type of batsman you want in test, with that attitude. What does he add to the team other than his name, his past records? BD been in such situation many times, Shakib comes in and does the same thing, plays too aggressive when the need of the time is to play it safe or see out the days play. Shakib could've easily been out - how would have some the fans felt? NORMAL because he shakib and he cant be dropped so no point arguing because he is acts like some gunda boy these days.

With no cricketing sense you can defend Shakib after today. If you do then you need to take a look at the game. Are you kidding that with 2 overs to go he cant survive defending Sandakan?

There's attacking and there's stupid
He didn't need to slog sweep him and didn't need to pull, his sweeps and late cuts are fine because that's how he plays, but ridiculous to try and slog
He better get a 50 tomorrow or else he's failed... Unless it's a great delivery

Shakib has crap technique. He wouldn't survive 2 overs of Sandakan without offering bat pad 3 chances. I'll take Chandimal dropping one out in the deep over that because those are the only options we have.
Unless you - like some fans - want us to drop Shakib and Tamim and Mushfiq so that SN, Tushar, and Javed Omar can be recalled.
Whatever he is - genius or gadha - Shakib is the best we have. He needs to be batting at #6 or 7 and we should never have dropped Mominul. Sabbir is not a Test batsman, at least not a top order one. Not yet anyways.
Tamim
Soumya/Imrul
Mominul
Mushy
Mosaddek
Shakib
Litton/Nurul
Mehedi
Taijul/Roy
Taskin
Mustafiz
that should be the team and the order. But no drop the guy who averages 47 even though he hardly plays and therefore needs time to find his groove. LKD injury was unfortunate.
No matter what, there are certain players that you can't drop. Tamim, Mushy, Shakib, Mustafiz, Mominul, Taskin are in that category.
Drop them at your peril.
In a way I'm glad we collapsed like we did. We deserve it. You dropped a guy averaging 47 and expect to win a Test?

You are putting words into my mouth. Go back and check where I said I am not for dropping the trio in the other thread but I am for criticizing them where its due. But we should not tolerate suicides. What Shakib was doing was absolutely mindless and looks like he is not there playing for the team. He might have scored 10,000 runs which he never will btw but he cant play like this. He doesnot have a solid technique doesnot mean he will go all out with 2 overs left. Try to differentiate please. It will help you understanding cricket better.

He was making a statement to papon. He knows that no matter what he does papon doesn't have the gut to drop him.
Ir even if he gets dropped he doesn't give a damn. Look at the way he was strmoing towards the dressing room after the end if the days play, he didn't even bother to wait for his captain.
He's certainly an egotistic nonsense who thinks he's greater than Bangladesh cricket.

Hope this is the end of Shakib al hasan, at least in tests. . Let him play IPL and CPL. Dont need players who think they are bigger than the team.

Anyone else thinks that he was in the middle of a bathroom break when Taijul strode out to the middle to play night watchman?
And he had to cut it short to accommodate for Taijul's first-ball-brief-stay, hurriedly cleaNing up, washing hands and rush to the middle. In no time, he was 7 off 2 balls, and by the end of the day, a mere 3 overs away, he was dropped, further frustrating him that he had to hold back his call of nature.
When umpires called stump, Shakib was hurrying off the ground to his rendezvous point to continue his bathroom break.
That answers the title of this thread.

There is an easy solution on how to deal with brats. No chilla chilli, no deikha nimu etc. etc.
Hug him, kiss him, say Hello to him, praise him on news media, but Just don't give the NOC for IPL, CPL or any PL. Done. Everything will be solved in matter of SECONDS. I know a thing or two on how to deal with brats.

This was the 100th test. This was historic. This was were we show we are worthy. This was taking it to the opponents in their house.
This selfish suicidal attitude was the last thing for us fans to witness. No matter what happens outside the field, when you are in the field you play for the team. Shakib was desperate to take the last wicket and get his name yet bowled negative/defensive balls to the tail. He should be taken out from the team. Disrupting the team is far worse than scoring only 20s. And acting like a teenaged girl and showing anger. To whom?

Shakib probably thinks he is bigger than Bangladesh cricket, and this gives him the idea that he can get away with anything he does on the pitch ( and off it, ie the crotch holding Infront of TV incident). It is the fault of us fans in putting him on a pedestal and pushing him to the moon, he is good but he is no Sachin Tendulkar or Imran Khan.

Shakib is by far and away our best player and he's not even out yet, fans are incredibly fickle these days

I'm no Shakib fan, but who is going to replace him?
Alok? Aftab? Tushar?
Some people have stupid technique...Chanderpaul.
Others have stupid approach...Sehwag.
Put Shakib at #7 in the batting order and make sure you have a solid top 6. Khalas.

Cut the crap with the replace thing. He is disrupting the whole team. You think KP was replacable? England still havent found the replacement for KP. No one is bigger than the team. Kapil Dev was dropped once for his stupid attitude. So cut the crap please.

For the record, Shiv Chanderpaul's technique is one of the best in the world. Just because his "stance" looks ugly doesn't mean that his technique sucks; they are two very different things.

Shakib is a big no for test, he doesn't have the temperament for test anymore it seems. I think selectors should be bald enough to drop him from test if he doesn't show any respect for test.
