Default clubs in quest of foreign cricketers

I found the following article on New Age interesting regarding foreign players playing in Dhaka. As I grew up in Dhaka, I have seem players mostly from Sri Lanka and Pakistani playing in Dhaka. But the assortment mentioned in this article is quite entertaining. Some of the names are Heath Streak, Chris Cairns, Grant Flower etc.

I think such names hsould bring about a decent crowd in Dhaka. Now, would it be too hard to bring some of the teams (clubs) invited to the Dhaka league. In the 80's Bangladesh Football Federation used to arrange torunaments like President's Gold Cub, Aga Khan Gold and bring foreign teams to play. Is that such a hard thing to bring English County teams, Australians, or even Indian or Pakistani teams to play in the league. I think the board should look into creative solutions.

1. Inviting English county teams is not practical. They are proffesional outfits and would cost hugh amount of money which could be spent better ways. Rather inviting the Academy teams from England and Australia would be less expensive as ECB is quite keen to give their future generation of talented players 'subcontinental experience'.

2. As I understand only 'Abahoni' is looking for quality players like Heath Streak, Chris Cairns, Grant Flower etc. Rest of the clubs are chasing mediocre (in terms of international class) foreigners who are successful in our domestic cricket. Imran farhat would not be able to play due to national commitment. Not surprizingly most of the clubs are interested in foreign batsmen whereas having few quality offie/leggie and pace bowler in the domestic circuit would have done good for our cricket. I thought they might come up with some guidelines about recruiting quality players. One out of three permitted should be a quality bowler.

Bottomline, outsiders would help the interest issue with the local crowd. I personally don't like to discard anything as impossible. It may not be the money always. Highly paid professional often pursue voluntary activities. I think it is important how the issue is approach.
