Default Faruk hints the ODI team for the India series

Faruk told today's Inqilab that he has already started working on a 13-14 member squad for the ODI series against India. Most of the current ODI players will be retained for the series. However, JO and Rajin will be considered for Test matches only. Tushar may come in the ODI squad as the 14th member. Selectors may consider Pilot for Test matches, but Mushfiq is the only choice keeper for ODIs.

These are exciting times. We have a young team coming back from a successful world cup campaign and there are some major changes being made (potential change in captaincy, some of the older players retiring, new ones coming in, etc).

I wish they let Tushar play a few games at a stretch this time. He could be our future ODI captain.

Btw, no Pilot in any form of the game, please.

My opinion- one from Rajin and JO should be retained in the ODI team as the back up opener, and Bashar should be let go to make place for him in the squad.

I think pilot should play for the test matches. Mushfiq is not that experienced yet.

Should but not gonna happen. This plan is to take the opener alternative of Shahreer out of the squad unless Mehrab comes back in. Mehrab is busy in under 19 team so he is not available. Only option left are Tamim and Shahreer. Very smart on Faruq's part!!

Tushar should definitely get some matches. If we can cement his place in the team, I see him captaining the ODI side in near future. However, Bashar is probably gonna stay for another series or two.

I really cant trust tushar anymore. I've seen him get chances over and over again and he always seems to fail. You cant just keep performing in A team level and demand attention and then blow by getting a low score the next game.

good news that Tushar coming back. People who say that he got a lot of chances needs to check back and will find that he got a chance and gets dropped. Not in a stretch like Alok got.

Pilot shud definitely come in Test but Mushfiq in ODI.

Since Alok is in superb form and he is a rare grammatically correct batsman, I will be surprised if they don't bring him in. We need a genuine all rounders as well as a great fielder who can effectively rotate the strikes in the middle overs. Not that our current batsmen have done much better during his absence. Among the old timers, Alok still has the highest average against the top 8 teams, slightly ahead of Ashraful.

i really want tushar to be given a good 7-10 game shot at cementing bashar's place in our ODI side...

but is tushar really good captaincy material? i'm sure he's better than bashar, but my sister would prolly be a better skipper than him.

tushar seems to play better when he is captain. think about his performance in A team. dukher bishoy national team e ashle, ai form ta thakena. but, he saved BD-A team's from batting biporjoy a number of times. i just think, he is kind of player, that will be encouraged to play better as a captain. at this moment, i see no other person as a better candidate for captain than tushar

Exciting times indeed. I'm hoping for a ODI series win against India and I honestly think we can do it. As far as older players are concerned, I'd still want Rafique to be around for at least a year.

I can't agree more about Tushar being given the chance. Look at it from this angle. Bashar, being a captain, did pretty textbookish captaincy. It doesn't need a genious to figure things out the way he does. On top of that, add absolutely 0 batting performance, dropped catches, misfielding, and missed runout chances. He doesn't bowl either. So to give him any credit, I will have nothing but a GOLLA. But yes, he did manage the team well on and off the field...for which we've got the memorable wins.

About Tushar, he certainly can add more to the batting lineup...than Bashar at least. He can be quite effective as a bowler, as he has bowled a bit. He won't have that many dropped catches, and will certainly not miss that many runouts. So Tushar should be given a good 10/15 match shot at once...and he should be told about it from early on, so that he just doesn't throw his wicket out of frustration. I truly beleive Tushar can be a great player to lead the side.

I think tushar would make a fantastic test batsman rather than a skipper in oneday. But he needs to have 15 ODis and few test matches to prove his point. if Javed and rajin is being dropped from ODIs then Kapali could be called in.

Forhad Reza should have had a game instead of Aftab at least in the last match.

Don't listen to what Faruk says now, he is playing smart by 'preparing' early. He will be fired as soon as WC is over. He was a political appointee (by Coco) and got no got no credential to do this job. More importantly this guy is corrupted (rebook scandal) like the politicians

Its high time that ALOK KAPALI is brought to the fold again! Along with Ash, he is our most accomplished batsman. Yes, his international stats are scatchy but so was Ashrafuls untill recently. One has to identify class and talent and has to persevere with that. Alok has both in abandunce! Its matter of time that he delivers...he has been in a good nick lately and are amongst the runs in domestic circuits. Alok is one of the very few complete cricketers we have. His leg-spinners have great potential and fielding is world-class.

Although, Tushar is young but I dont think he can cut it in international cricket due to his very poor temperament. He is definitely no captaincy material!! Farhad Reza, on the other hand, is much more talented (only BD player to score a half-century on debut) and should be considered in the ODIs.

Finally, picking JO for ODIs would be going backward and not forward in my book! I'm very doubtful whether he should be in the test set-up either.
